Comments/Explanations

Stewards accepted the explanation of trainers for the late notification of riders tonight.

Following the running of Race 4 Apprentice Tyson Buck was examined by the on-course ambulance officers after complaining of a sore right shoulder and was passed fit to continue riding. Tyson Buck was again examined following the running of Race 5 and was subsequently stood down from his remaining engagements. Tyson Buck was advised that he must submit a medical certificate prior to riding in trackwork, trials or races.

Following the running of Race 8 Jockey K Sanderson advised Stewards that he was feeling unwell and would not be able to fulfil his engagement in Race 9. Kelvin Sanderson was advised that he must submit a medical certificate prior to riding in trackwork, trials or races.

RACE 1 – NEW YEARS DAY 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE–1200 METRES

Mensa Magic and Rokeby Lad were both slow to begin (1L).

Sound Bar jumped away awkwardly.

Leigh John jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the side of the barriers.

Shortly after the start Jilly Babe which was slightly slow to begin was tightened for room between It’s Flash Al which shifted out slightly and Sound Bar which after jumping awkwardly continued to shift in.

Shortly after the start New Vision shifted out abruptly resulting in Islington being eased.

Shortly after this Leigh John was tightened between Why Is It So and Crabby Ness which shifted in slightly.

During the early stages Why Is It So raced ungenerously.

At various stages during the event Sound Bar hung in and in the home straight the gelding continued to hang in and proved difficult to ride.

On the latter part of the home turn Sound Bar had to be restrained off the heels of Stella Etoile when taken in over the heels of Coriace (B McCoull) which shifted in slightly. Brendon McCoull was notified to exercise care when in similar circumstances.

RACE 2 – BALLYMORE STABLES CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

Geegees Red Rock jumped away awkwardly and lost some ground.

Kentucky Tea was slow to begin (1L).

Volcanic Sky which was slightly slow to begin was hampered when Gee Gees Snowhill shifted out.

FilloutThe Ticket raced wide throughout.

For as short distance on the latter part of the home turn Kentucky Tea and Miss Eye Candy had difficulty in obtaining a clear run.

Approaching the winning post Acacia Bloom shifted in when under pressure and slightly inconvenienced Ourmaher.

YassyNishitani rider of Geegees Red Rock which was eased down from the 200 metres felt that the saddle moved forward during the race however approaching the 200 metres slipped forward further which placed him at a severe disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

Kelvin Sanderson rider of Saturn Shimmy which performed below market expectations explained that the mare was reluctant to race inside other runners and although ran on fairly to the finish in his opinion may be better suited over further distance.

***Stewards upgraded the track to DEAD(4) at 6.49 pm***

RACE 3 – TASMANIAN BAKERIES BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP- 1200 METRES

On arrival on course Sienna Of Sydney underwent a veterinary examination and the mare was subsequently passed fit to race.

Vision Of Beauty was slightly slow to begin.

Approaching the 1100 metres Bag Of Monkeys was inconvenienced and tightened for room between Strait Shot and Yuppony which shifted out slightly.

Miswaki Call raced wide throughout.

Near the 400 metres Constant Rhythm became unbalanced when it layed in towards Refuse To Lose which shifted out to improve to the outside of Bertie’s Bells.

Near the 300 metres Mossgiel Village which was improving was hampered when placed awkwardly on the heels of Refuse To Lose which commenced to lose ground. Mossgiel Village was then unable to obtain a clear run until after passing the 200 metres.

Rounding the home turn Tough At Heart hung out.

At the entrance to the home straight Bag Of Monkeys was disappointed for a run for a short distance.

Entering the home straight Revenging was unable to obtain a clear run.

For some distance passing the 200 metres Yuppony had difficulty obtaining a clear run.

Near the 100 metres Bertie’s Bells shifted in abruptly and contacted Strait Shot resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced.

Brendon McCoull rider of Bag Of Monkeys which performed below market expectations explained that after receiving some minimal interference shortly after the start the gelding did not pick up the bit as he would have expected however did travel well throughout. Brendon McCoull further added that Bag Of Monkeys did lay in in the straight and then had some difficulty in obtaining a clear run over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

RACE 4 – PFD FOODSERVICES 3YO TROPHY - 1400 METRES

Correct weight was delayed when Jason Lyon rider of Geegees Soprano wished to view the photo finish for second place. After doing so he was satisfied and correct weight was declared.

Mikaylas Raider jumped away awkwardly.

Gee Gees Showboy raced wide throughout.

Rounding the home turn All Cheer hung out.

On the latter part of the home turn and in the early part of the home straight Quest Master had difficulty obtaining a clear run.

For a short distance passing the 100 metres Savoire Step had difficulty obtaining a clear run.

Sigrid Carr rider of Inner Warrior was fined $200 under AR 137(c) in that she made a celebratory gesture prior to the finish line.

RACE 5 – ELITE SECURITY 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE DIV 1 (1) - 1600 METRES

Our Mummy’s Boy and Unparalleled jumped away awkwardly and lost some ground.

From the 600 metres MikaylasTaddy hung in and proved difficult to ride.

In the home straight, Topiary layed in when under pressure.

RACE 6 – PREMIUM EVENTS 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE DIVE 2 (2)- 1600 METRES

Lady Vee which was slightly slow to begin was tightened for room between Full Magnum which shifted out slightly and Rhiannons Gold which was taken in when contacted by Rattle’N’Battle.

Kim Moore rider of Rattle’N’Battlewas found guilty of a charge under the provisions of AR 137(a) careless riding the particulars being that near the 1400 metres she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Rhiannons Gold resulting in that mare having to be checked. Stewards deemed the interference to be of a medium range. After taking into account submissions on penalty, Kim Moore’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 2 Tasmanian race meetings to commence at midnight 26 December 2013 and to expire at midnight 1 January 2014.

Near the 1400 metres Mygreyhorse was tightened for room when Mr Moonshine (S Amano) shifted in when not quite clear. Shuji Amano was reprimanded and reminded that he must ensure he is sufficiently clear of other runners when shifting ground.

Hoop raced wide throughout.

Passing the 50 metres Mr Moonshine had to be steadied off the heels of Rattle’N’Battle.

Shuji Amano rider of Mr Moonshine was reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the finish. When assessing to only issue a reprimand Stewards took into consideration that his actions did not affect the overall placings.

RACE 7 – LONGFORD EQUINE STABLES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP – 1600 METRES

The start was delayed 3 minutes when Tuktoyaktuk became fractious, reared and got its leg over the front of the gate on two occasions harmlessly dislodging the rider. Tuktoyaktuk was removed from the barriers and examined by the veterinary surgeon who reported the gelding to have bruised front tendons and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 9.38 pm acting on veterinary advice. Prior to the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies invested on Tuktoyaktuk to be refunded in full. All bets made prior to 9.38 pm were to be paid less nineteen cents in the dollar on the face value of the win ticket and sixteen cents in the dollar on the value of the place ticket. Trainer D Ray-Luttrell was advised that Tuktoyaktuk must complete a jump out and she must submit a veterinary certificate before the gelding will be permitted to race again.

Lightly Spiced jumped away awkwardly and then raced ungenerously for a short distance.

Secuma raced wide throughout.

During the middle stages Lightly Spiced over-raced .

In the home straight Lightly Spiced displayed a tendency to hang in.

Over the concluding stages Settler’s Joy shifted out slightly when under pressure.

RACE 8 –JUICY ISLE CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

Just Mouse was fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Connections were advised that a warning has been placed on the filly’s barrier manners.

On jumping away Laharun contacted the heels of Ash For Cash which shifted out.

Shortly after this Coastal Rose which had jumped inwards took Just Mouse in onto Footbolt resulting in that gelding being checked between Ash For Cash and Just Mouse.

Bernaurd was slow into stride.

Bernaurd displayed a tendency to hang in throughout.

Rounding the home turn Sariana’s Quest (R Yetimova) had to be checked when attempting a run where there was insufficient room to the inside of In The Frame. Rasit Yetimova was notified that he must ensure there is a full run available when attempting to improve in similar circumstances. During this incident Bernaurd was inconvenienced. For some distance thereafter Sariana’s Quest was held up.

RACE 9 – CRIPPS NU-BAKE MAIDEN/CLASS 1 PLATE – 2100 METRES

Gee Gee Black Fury was declared a late scratching at 2.35 pm by order of Stewards when it was reported that the gelding was showing signs of colic.

Near the 1800 metres Novaover which was over racing had to be checked to avoid the heels of One More Beer.

During the early stages Novaover pulled hard and made the crossing near the 1700 metres awkwardly.

YassyNishitani rider of Novaover reported that he accidentally dropped his whip near the 250 metres.

A post-race veterinary examination of One More Beer which commenced to give ground from the 200 metres revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer Adam Trinder was advised that he must submit a veterinary certificate prior to One More Beer racing again.
