RACE 1 – Southern Tasmania Womens Softball Juvenile (1) 461M

Soon after the start Waikiki crossed towards the rail, checking Bendigo Scott. At the same time Elusive Last and Rulla Lulu Kays bumped, checking Elusive Last. Shortly after Waikiki continued to cross towards the rail, checking Blue McCool. At the same time Fancy Rick and Rulla Lulu Kays bumped. On the first turn Rulla Lulu Kays bumped, checking Fancy Rick and resulting in Elusive Last being checked. Entering the home straight Rulla Lulu Kays and Rock Royalty bumped. Waikiki tired over the concluding stages. Fancy Rick underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injury could be detected.

Soon after the start Rulla Ronaldo and Shanlyn Whirly bumped. At the same time Sue’s Guess and Electronic bumped. On the first turn Rulla Ronaldo checked off the heels of Electronic resulting in Shanlyn Whirly being checked. On the home turn Shanlyn Whirly checked off the heels of Rulla Ronaldo, shortly after Sue’s Guess and Stella Act bumped, checking Sue’s Guess. Entering the home straight Shanlyn Whirly and Sensational Me bumped, checking both greyhounds. In the home straight Shanlyn Whirly and Sensational Me bumped. Approaching the finish Shanlyn Whirly and Sensational Me bumped. Shanlyn Whirly underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injury could be detected. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr G Moate in relation to the race manner of Shanlyn Whirly in the home straight. Acting on their own observations, viewing the official replays and taking evidence from Mr Moate, stewards were of the opinion that Shanlyn Whirly had its head turned outwards towards Sensational Me in the home straight and in doing so had failed to pursue the lure with due commitment pursuant to GAR 69(1)(b). Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(2)(a) Shanlyn Whirly has been stood down from racing for a period of 28 days, Hobart only, and until the completion of a satisfactory trial. Sensational Me underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have soreness to the right hock. Sensational Me has been stood down from racing for a period of 5 days. A post race swab sample was taken from Dee Diamond the winner of the event.

On the first turn Buckle Up Barney galloped on the heels of Viper Surf, checking both greyhounds and resulting in No Yes Know, Daniel’s Bay and Buckle Up Neiko being checked. In the back straight Lizzie Beth checked off the heels of Big Pippy Leigh. Approaching the first turn Maverick Buddy checked off the heels of Mega Tyrion. On the first turn Lizzie Beth, What Now and Sir Rioli bumped, checking Sir Rioli. On the home turn Buckle Up Zimil checked off the heels of Enfield Flame. In the home straight What Now and Sir Rioli bumped. Big Pippy Leigh raced wide in the home straight.

The start of this event was delayed approximately one minute due to Bendigo Harness, Race 6 running behind schedule. Soon after the start Lashing Illusion, Bain’s Lane and Distorted bumped, checking Distorted, shortly after Vel Magic, Rockvel, Feraro Dreams and Highway Two bumped, checking Vel Magic and Highway Two. In the back straight Rockvel and Feraro Dreams bumped. On the first turn Vel Magic and Feraro Dreams bumped, checking Feraro Dreams. A post race swab sample was taken from Bain’s Lane the winner of the event.

On the home turn Party Monster checked off the heels of Just As Fancy, resulting in Enfield Fire being checked, Frytson and Trust Fund raced wide in the home straight.

On the home turn Paragon Cove checked off the heels of Cindylicious, bumping with Juneau. Entering the home straight Son Of Superman and Paragon Cove bumped.

Beard Of Zeus was slow out. Soon after the start Beard Of Zeus checked off the heels of Technology, shortly after Flying Rocket checked off the heels of Babushka. In the back straight Adam’s Beccy galloped on the heels of Technology, checking both greyhounds. Approaching the first turn Adam’s Beccy and Beard Of Zeus bumped. On the first turn Flying Rocket and Adam’s Beccy bumped, checking both greyhounds. Approaching the home turn Babushka crossed wide, checking Goodwood Lad. Beard Of Zeus underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have muscle soreness to the right hind gluteus muscle. Beard Of Zeus has been stood down from racing for a period of 7 days.

GENERAL

Stewards conducted an inquiry with trainer Mr C Smith into the reasons why Royal Surge was not produced for kennelling at the Hobart Greyhound Racing Club meeting on the 21st November 2013 and being declared a late scratching. After taking evidence from trainer Mr Smith and a written statement from grader Mr S Spilsbury stewards were of the opinion that there had been some miscommunication and confusion when Mr Smith attempted to scratch Royal Surge and were not satisfied that Mr Smith was fully at fault, as such no action was taken against Mr Smith and the stand down period for Royal Surge was reduced to 10 days.

Bet On Black completed a steward’s satisfactory trial as it was stood down from the Hobart Greyhound Racing club on the 26th September 2013 for failing to pursue the lure by reason of injury pursuant to GAR 69(5). Weighing 31 kilos and beginning from box 5, Bet On Black completed the 599 metre trial distance in a time of 35.34. Bet On Black has been cleared to race at all tracks. Bet On Black underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have a wound to the left stopper pad. Bet On Black has been stood down from racing for a period of 5 days.
