Comments/Explanations

Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainers L Dalco and D Horner (Snr) for the late notification of riders for Larmar Hall in Race 6 and Yasir in Race 7 today.

RACE 1 – MISS NICOLA 3YO MAIDEN PLATE- 1100 METRES

On jumping away Crambazzled shifted outwards and bumped with Alive.

Shortly after the start Beryl Bee rolled in marginally tightening the running of Dhanraj which shifted in and bumped with Positive Strategy.

Dhanraj raced greenly in the early stages of the event.

Jockey K Sanderson rider of Mr Toucan which performed below expectations explained that the gelding raced greenly and failed to respond to his riding.

RACE 2 – ROBYN C JEWELLERY 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200 METRES

Umlimo underwent a pre-race veterinary examination prior to racing today as the mare had not raced for over 12 months and was subsequently passed fit to race.

Am I There Yet was slow into stride (5L). Trainer S Brunton was advised that a warning has been placed on the gelding’s starting manners.

The Stockman jumped outwards bumping heavily with Dark Wind which lost its position.

Royal Galaxy had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of Mum And I passing the 800 metres resulting in Artie Luvstoparty being momentarily inconvenienced.

The Stockman laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Matthew Gatt rider of Umlimo which performed below expectations explained that in his opinion the mare failed to handle the track conditions.

A post-race veterinary examination of Dark Wind revealed the mare to be shin sore. Trainer M Voss advised that Dark Wind will now be spelled. Dark Wind will be inspected by the veterinary surgeon prior to racing again.

RACE 3 – MICHE HANDBAGS 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE- 1400 METRES

Neil’s On Target which damaged a tooth underwent a veterinary examination and after having the tooth removed was passed fit to take its place in the field.

Syndactyly jumped outwards at the start inconveniencing Gee Gees Dutchess.

Approaching the 1200 metre turn Inxeeblack laid out marginally carrying Syndactyly outward onto Stormswift which was inconvenienced.

Diocese was caught four wide in the early stages and was only able to obtain a position three wide thereafter.

Special Fusion laid in in the early and middle stages.

Special Fusion brushed the running rail near the 450 metres.

Neil’s On Targett was held up passing the 450 metres behind Gee Gees Dutchess before moving wider on the track to obtain a clear run.

Shortly after this Stormswift was inconvenienced between Neil’s On Target which was shifting wider and Gold Adonna which had laid in at this point.

A post-race veterinary examination of Dymalira which performed below expectations revealed no obvious abnormalities.

Tyson Buck rider of Gold Adonna which performed below expectations stated that the mare did not handle the track conditions today.

RACE 4 – MOOIE MAKEUP CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1200 METRES

Keukenhof shifted outwards on jumping bumping with Maleesh.

Let’s Go Ernie dipped in the going shortly after the start.

Maleesh raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages.

Near the 550 metres Symbol Of Freedom and O’Reillys Geegee brushed. O’Reillys Geegee then laid in tightening Simon Said Lets Go.

Keukenhof attempted to shift wider on the track approaching the 400 metres and tightened Lost Island out onto Red Nova. Keukenhof was then unable to shift wider on the track and had to be steadied off the heels of Maleesh for some distance.

A post-race veterinary examination of Charmarama revealed no obvious abnormalities.

RACE 5 – SHAREE MARSHALL BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP - 2100 METRES

The start was delayed by 1 minute when Future Dividend proved difficult to load. On this occasion Stewards took no further action as the established procedures when loading this horse were not followed.

Keep Racing shifted out on jumping and inconvenienced Stacy Ann.

Future Dividend and Stockbroker raced three wide in the early and middle stages.

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion Burlington had to be steadied off the heels of Keep Racing due to the slow early pace.

Patrick Keane the rider of She’s Ayce which performed below expectations stated that the mare raced well but when asked to improve failed to respond to his riding. In his opinion the mare will now be spelled.

RACE 6 – SUES OF INVERMAY CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1400 METRES

Jockey P Keane was granted permission to ride Larmar Hall 1 kilo over the allotted weight (54kg) due to the unavailability of a rider at that weight.

Willow The Wisp was tightened and lost its position shortly after the start when Just Grand (RYetimova) shifted in marginally and Red Willow was taken out when Ben Annalou (B Muhcu) rolled out away from Not Guilty. Apprentice B Muhcu and R Yetimova were advised to exercise more care when allowing their mounts to shift ground in future.

Pinks A Legend shifted ground outwards away from Settler’s Joy upon jumping and bumped with Larmar Hall.

Sun Disk and Pinks A Legend bumped near the 1200 metres.

Sun Disk was held up from the 550 metres until entering the home straight when racing to the inside of Ski Dubai and behind Pinks A Legend.

Georgie Catania rider of Not Guilty reported that when placed under pressure the gelding did not handle the going. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

Stephen Maskiell rider of Settler’s Joy explained that the mare was unable to take up a forward position and did not handle the track conditions today.

Kim Moore rider of Pinks A Legend explained that the mare raced well early but did not respond to her riding when placed under pressure. Mrs Moore further stated that she believed the mare will now be spelled.

RACE 7 – NUTRIMETICS BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

Correct weight was delayed when Jockey S Maskiell rider of Drummond wished to view the official film. After doing so he was satisfied and correct weight was declared.

Just A Beach shifted in upon jumping and Smartie Artie shifted out tightening Status Seeker and Palzago resulting in both horses losing their positions and being slow into stride (3L).

A post-race veterinary examination of Yasir revealed the gelding was suffering from colic and subsequently underwent veterinary treatment.

An inquiry will be held into the riding tactics on Palzago at a future date as the rider A Darmanin had left the course.

RACE 8 –NATIONAL JOCKEYS CELEBRATION DAY OPEN HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

Correct weight was delayed when Bulent Muhcu rider of Secuma wished to view the official film. After doing so he was satisfied and correct weight was declared.

Another Concerto was slow into stride (1L) after it was inconvenienced at the start when Ladali shifted in marginally.

Spy Wears Prado laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Sigrid Carr rider of Pengalas Gee Gee which performed below expectations explained the gelding failed to handle the track conditions and did not respond to her riding in the home straight. She further stated that the gelding performed similarly on a wet track on 27 February 2013.

Western Hero tailed the field and was beaten a considerable distance. A post-race veterinary examination of Western Hero revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer T Evans advised that the gelding will now be retired.

GENERAL

Stewards will conduct an inquiry into the reasons unlicensed person Greg Scott was assisting Trainer M Voss at today’s meeting.

RACE 9 – SPORTSBET.COM.AU TOP TOTE PLUS BENCHMARCH 78 HANDICAP – 1650 METRES

Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons Reach The Moon was checked near the 300 metres. After taking evidence from Anthony Darmanin rider of Reach The Moon and Kim Moore rider of Difrent, acting on their own observations and viewing the official film it was established that when Difrent rolled out marginally, Anthony Darmanin endeavoured to take a tight run to its inside but was unable to fully establish the run and was obliged to check his mount. As Stewards were not satisfied that any one rider was responsible for the incident they took no further action other than to advise both riders to exercise more care when placed in similar circumstances in the future.

RACE 6 – DANNEBROG CAFÉ BAR AND GRILL BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP – 1150 METRES

When questioned in relation to the performance of My Angels which was eased out of the event in the early stages, stable representative Yasmin Maskiell stated that the filly had shown no sign of any abnormalities following the run and had galloped competitively on Friday 2 August 2013.

RACE 9 – SPORTSBET.COM.AU TOP TOTE PLUS BENCHMARCH 78 HANDICAP – 1650 METRES

When questioned into the performance of Makes Cents, stable representative Yasmin Maskiell stated that Makes Cents had recovered with no abnormalities from the run and the stable intend to start the gelding on Tuesday 6 August 2013 at Devonport Racing Club.

Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons Matthew Gatt rider of Uboa weighed in 1 kilo in excess of his allotted weight. After taking into consideration the weather conditions on the day and his good record, Stewards severely reprimanded Matthew Gatt under AR 145.
