Read through pages 420-456 “Research”. This area details the importance of understanding how to properly format a research paper. Summarize each section in one or two sentences. The complete summarization should give you a good picture of the overall research process.

Upon completion of the 53+A-D, read 53e. For each section “To locate other sources…” pg 432-437, write a brief summary. For section 53 you will write an explanation of the purpose of each area ie…databases, print index, library catalog and other catalogs, search engines, directories etc… Make sure each area is clearly labeled in separate paragraphs. Your paragraphs must show me that you clearly understand the purpose of the tool explained. For each, give an example of how you might use that resource in your research paper. For example, A dictionary could be used to provide concise information about a specific word your reader may not know or understand.

Then move on to section 64 to read and summarize the primary areas where research comes from for your papers. This area addresses many of the resources we will be exploring at Black Hills State University. After finishing section 64, then move on to read and summarize each area of section 65, APA manuscript format explaining how and why each item is used..

Upon the completion of the summary writing, go back and review all of your summaries and information. Then write a brief 2-3 page overview of what you have learned from this research and how you will use it to your advantage. Make note of the fact that you will not have many of these resources available to you since you could not attend the informational trip to use the BHSU library. Talk about how you will overcome the obstacles you will face and how you will overcome them in writing this paper by not having access to the resources of a university library.
