2011 DEPLOYED SOLDIER ARCHERY DEER HUNT APPLICATION PROCEDURES

The Minnesota Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is accepting applications for the Camp Ripley Deployed Soldier Archery Huntsnear Little Falls andArden Hills Army Training Site (AHATS), Arden Hills Minnesota. Applying for and taking part in the Deployed Soldier hunts will not affect your eligibility for the regular Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Sponsored Camp Ripley Hunt or the deployed soldier turkey or muzzle-loader hunts. You may apply for and hunt in up to two (2)of the hunts listed below.

Permits will be issued as follows: 175 permits for the Camp Ripley hunt and 40 permits for each AHATS hunt. NOTE: Criteria for the hunts are as follows: Minnesota Army and Air National Guard Soldiers that have been mobilized (deployed) with a Minnesota Army or Air National Guard Unit to support the Global War on Terrorism since September 11, 2001. You must have your application in by August 31, 2011. A drawing in early September 2011 will be held at Camp Ripley. Only Successful applicants will be notified by mail, and issued the hunt rules, orientation and logistical information.

All hunters will be required to have a valid Minnesota archery deer hunting license and attend one pre-hunt orientation session to participate in the Camp Ripley hunt. Mandatory orientation sessions for the Camp Ripley hunt will occur Tuesday October 4, 2011 at 1000, 1300 and 1500. You will be allowed to scout and set huntingstands after the orientation. Orientation for the AHATS hunt will occur prior to your entry into AHATS. Deer of either sex may be taken during the hunt and you are authorized to use bonus permits to take antlerless deer in addition to your regular license. The maximum bag limit for the CampRipley hunt is two deer per hunter (only one may be a buck, which must be tagged with your regular license). There is no limit to the number of antlerless deer harvested on AHATS provided a bonus tag is purchased for each deer harvested. No group applications will be allowed.
