BC ABORIGINAL SWIM CAMP

The Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council (Partners Council) of BC is pleased to announce a BC Aboriginal SWIM Camp will be hosted on March 28 in Duncan, BC at the Cowichan Aquatic Centre. Thank you to the Cowichan Tribes who is serving as the official host organization of this Swim BC supported camp!

We are inviting Aboriginal youth (First Nations, Métis, Inuit), ages 6 to 17, who want to further develop their swimming skills and gain quality coaching and instruction in a safe, positive, fun and professional atmosphere to sign up and come on out and join us!

Whether you are simply interested in the Sport of Swimming and want to learn more on what it’s all about, or, you are already involved in the organized Sport of Swimming, come and learn from Leanne Sirup, Head Coach for Team BC for North American Indigenous Games and Head Coach of the Duncan Stingrays. Leanne led the BC swim team to an incredible 65 medalswin at NAIG!

Two different sessionswill be provided based on age groups:

SATURDAY, March 28
Ages 6 to 11
9:30 am to 11:00 am (Snack included).
Arrive to check-in by 9:15am. / SATURDAY, March 28
Ages 12 to 17
11:15am to 12:45 pm (Snack included)
Arrive to check-in by11:00 am.

With the support of our partners, including the Province of BC, the camp is FREE! Participants also receive a pair of goggles, a BC Aboriginal Camp T-shirt and swim cap.

Fee: / FREEto participate. The camp offers a tremendous value, but you must register in advance! This camp includes pool access, quality instruction from trained NCCP Level III coach, a pair of goggles, a BC Aboriginal Camp t-shirt and swim cap and a snack.

WAIVER & RELEASE OF LIABILITY

In the consideration of the Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council (Partners Council) accepting my registration and allowing me to participate in the BC Aboriginal Provincial Development Camp (Camp), I myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns hereby agree to:

  1. RELEASE the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (as the host organization of the Partners Council), the Event Host Community/Organization,Swim BC, its partners, volunteers, servants, agents, employees and other participants of the Event (all of whom are hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Releasees”), from any and all claims, actions, costs, demands and expenses arising out of or in consequence of any loss, injury or damage to my person or personal property incurred while attending at or participating in the Camp, notwithstanding that any such loss, injury or damage may result from the negligence of the Releasees. In addition, permission is granted to administer any medical treatment that may be required.
  2. WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS that I, my heirs, executors, administrators, insurers, successors and assigns have or may have in the future against the Releasees.
  3. GRANT to the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (as the host organization of the Partners Council) and its partners, the right to use, without payment of any fee, charge or compensation of any kind, including royalties, and all written information, and/or any and all photographs, video tape or other visual media of myself taken during the Camp for non-commercial, promotional purposes, educational programs and I also agree to waive any right to approve such use.

I understand the rules and regulations are designed for the safety and protection of participants and hereby agree to abide by the rules, regulations set by the Partners Council and BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres. I have read this release of liability and assumption of risk agreement, and fully understand its terms. I understand that I have given up substantial rights by signing it, and sign freely voluntarily, without any inducement.
