AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF RUBIE B. CASTEAL CARSON OF COLUMBIA AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Rubie B. Casteal Carson of Columbia on February 29, 2012, at the venerable age of ninety; and
Whereas, a native of Orangeburg County, Rubie B. Casteal Carson was born to Ester and Rosa Casteal on July 19, 1921. A woman of faith, she joined Malony Baptist Church in North at an early age; and
Whereas, possessing a servant’s heart, Rubie Carson was a foster grandparent in the Columbia schools for many years. She was also president of the Columbia All Stars gospel group for more than thirtyeight years; and
Whereas, preceded in death by her husband, Tillie (T.C.) Carson, she leaves to cherish her memoryseven daughters and one son, Thelma Seibles, Jeannette Peoples, Hattie Vinson, Drelton Carson, Elaine Geter, Vivian Young, ErnestineCounts, and LaVern Carson, all of Columbia; twentythree grandchildren; thirtysix greatgrandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. She will be missed. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Rubie B. Casteal Carson of Columbia and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Thelma Seiblesfor the family.
