AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF DEACON ALLEN DENNIS JENKINS, SR., OF JASPER COUNTY, AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HISLOVING FAMILY AND HIS MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Deacon Allen Dennis Jenkins, Sr., at the age of seventythree on July 15, 2011; and

Whereas, nestled in the quiet Lowcountry of Gillisonville in Jasper County, Allen Jenkins was born on April 9, 1938, the second of nine children of Allen and Smithie Jenkins; and

Whereas, after graduating from the publicschool system in 1958, he joined the United States Army and served for three years before he was honorably discharged; and

Whereas, together with his beloved highschool sweetheart and late wife, Deloris, he moved to New York where they reared three fine children, who blessed them with four adoring grandchildren; and

Whereas, he worked long hours as a construction worker and provided well for his family; and

Whereas, until his retirement, he was a proud member of the Local 79, Mason Tenders Union and a devoted member and deacon of Bible Way Church in Jamaica, New York; and

Whereas, upon his retirement, he returned to his roots in Gillisonville where he could spend many enjoyable hours in the gardening and fishing he so loved; and

Whereas, active in the Allen Busby Family Reunion, he played a major role in the Allen Busby Building Project, and he joined Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Faith Church where he served as a deacon; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy ofDeacon Allen Dennis Jenkins, Sr., and for the example of sacrifice and kindness he set for all who knew him. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

Thatthe members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution,express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Deacon Allen Dennis Jenkins, Sr., of JasperCounty, and extend their deepest sympathy to hisloving family and his many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to the family of Deacon Allen Dennis Jenkins, Sr.
