QUOTA INTERNATIONAL OF FORT LAUDERDALE
Business Meeting – April 6th, 2010
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by President Gayle Bramson at the Marriott Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. Ellie Conway gave the invocation, followed by members reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Minutes were read and accepted. (Motion by Dolores Taylor; seconded by Joanne Jaycox.)
The Treasurer, Carol Zeber, reported that we have a total of $92,803.98 in our accounts. The Fashion Show netted $5,398.26.
Carol Zeber presented the Service Report.Dolores Taylor, for Sound Beginnings, reported that a 23-year-old young man will be fitted for hearing aids. She also thanked Judy Smith for contributing Easter bunnies for our “Kards 4 Kids” program.
Scholarship Committee Chair, Joanne Jaycox, reported that Scholarship applications have been sent out. Carol Zeber reported the committee will discuss a scholarship to be given in Miriam Huckins' name, also increasing the scholarships to $2,000 and giving a scholarship for service to Fort Lauderdale High School. There will also be some discussion of beginning a new “vocational” scholarship during the Committee meeting.
The following motions were accepted,
- To combine the offices of Vice-president and 2nd Vice President.
- To combine the offices of recording and corresponding secretaries.
- To have meetings in July and August.

- Dolores Taylor moved that we give $550 to Faith in Action. Seconded by Barbara Duncan. Motion carried.
- Kards for Kids Committee will do the Brag Board for Conference.
- Surprise Party for Miriam McIlvaine announced.
- Coral Gables fundraiser-Kentucky Derby Party announced.
- Thank you card from Joanne Jaycox for cards and flowers for her grandson.
Raffle was won by Sue Gaughan. Meeting adjourned at 9:15 PM

Dear Club Members,
Thank you for electing me as your club President for our fiscal year of May 1, 2010 through April 30, 2011. I believe our Board of Directors is just as excited as I am and I know we are all ready to take up the challenge of leading our club in a stellar year!
We will be “busy bees” rebuilding our clubto fit a new vision. One that we all must share and agree upon. We are a strong club. We have faithful members, a powerful service focus and our coffers are full. WE are very blessed. So, think about what you want from our club. What are your expectations? I will be calling each of you, during May, to find out.
I have been a member of our club since 1995. Over those 15 years, I have learned a lot. I remember Peggy Barry (our belated and beloved member that bequeathed us about $80,000 for scholarships) telling me that before you “agree to be President, make sure you have a Ways and Means Chair.” So, when Carol Zeber suggested that Carole Hart be our Ways and Means Chair, I was so thrilled! We all know this is one of our most important committees and that all of us are on the Ways and Means Committee. Who better than an expert in small business development! Aren’t we lucky to have Carole!
Also, a member said to me that she wanted us to have 24 members. So, I am proposing to the Board, Marie Katz, as our new Membership Chair. Isn’t that wonderful!!?! Thank you, Marie!
