This module is a great follow-up to the Planning a Practice module. It is recommended that the Performance Planning module be taken before Advanced Practice Planning.

The Managing Conflict module will allow you to:

  • Identify common sources of conflict in sport;
  • Determine which individuals or groups are most likely to find themselves in situations involving conflict;
  • Learn important skills that will help you prevent and solve conflict resulting from misinformation, miscommunication or misunderstanding;
  • Develop skills that will empower you to listen and speak effectively in conflict situations while maintaining positive relationships with athletes, parents, officials and other coaches

Comp/Dev. Module Workshop: Leading Drug Free SportCANCELLED

Course Schedule:Sunday Oct. 22, 20179:00 – 1:00 pm

After taking this module you will be able to:

  • Fully understand and explain the consequences of using banned substances in sport
  • Educate athletes about drug-testing protocols at major competitions;
  • Encourage athletes to safeguard their sport values and take greater responsibility for their personal actions;
  • Apply the NCCP Ethical Decision-Making Model to your coaching as it relates to keeping your sport and athletes drug-free

Option B:Saturday Specialized Training Workshops$60.00

Saturday workshop only.

Designed for Coaches looking to upgrade/refresh their skills outside the NCCP. This year’s clinic is intended for coaches looking to get a head start on the wrestling season, refresh some of their skills and pick up new ones, and who may need to attend a wrestling workshop to maintain their wrestling training to abide by the new OPHEA Guidelines:

Wrestling

At least one wrestling coach must possess one of the following coaching qualifications:

1...•NCCP Competition Coach – Competition-Introduction Part 1 Course

2...•NCCP Competition Coach – Competition-Introduction Part 2 Course

3...•Accreditation as a NCCP Wrestling Learning Facilitator

4...•Completion of wrestling NCCP level 1 and/or level 2 certification in the past

5...•Attendance at a clinic or workshop within the last three years provided by an instructor who is knowledgeable of the activity (e.g., appropriate skills and progressions), and where safety is addressed as outlined in the Ontario Physical Education Safety Guidelines.

6...•Effective September 1, 2016, past experience within the last 3 years as a coach in wrestling, having knowledge of the activity (e.g., appropriate skills and progressions) andcurrent safety practices as outlined in the Ontario PhysicalEducation Safety Guidelines.

This course will also qualify already certified NCCP Coaches to receive ThreeNCCP Professional Development Points

Coaches taking this workshop will:

Morning session:9:00 – 12:00 pm

Participate in a presentation by Mr. Leigh Vierling, High Performance Director of Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL).

Lunch Break:12:00 – 1:00 pm(please bring or arrange for your own lunch)

Afternoon Session:1:00 – 3:30 pm

Final Session:4:00 – 5:30 pm(optional)

As coaches attend the OHP Athletes’ CombineLight Scrimmage Session for athletes.
