THE COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION

LAWRENCE K. GROOMS for Committee.

[4711-1]

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME THE INTERCHANGE LOCATED AT EXIT 37 ALONG INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 385 IN GREENVILLE COUNTY THE “WILKINS NORWOOD INTERCHANGE” AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS AT THIS INTERCHANGE THAT CONTAIN THE WORDS “WILKINS NORWOOD INTERCHANGE”.

Whereas, Mr. Wilkins Norwood was responsible for appraising much of the land that supports the state’s highway system during his professional career as an appraiser; and

Whereas, he was a member of the Appraisal Institute and served on its national board, served as president of the State Board of Realtors, and served on numerous occasions as board president of the Greenville Realtors; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the General Assembly to recognize the contributions that this son of South Carolina made to our great State by naming an interchange in Greenville County in his honor. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly request that the Department of Transportation name the interchange located at Exit 37 along Interstate Highway 385 in Greenville County the “Wilkins Norwood Interchange” and erect appropriate markers or signs at this interchange that contain the words “Wilkins Norwood Interchange”.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
