Whereas, using those talents and attributes, Coaches Glover Smiley and Shay Rice and the members of the Spartanburg High School Girls Track Team capped an impressive season by winning the 2006 Class AAAA State Track Championship; and
Whereas, defeating tough competitors to take the state title, these athletes remained calm and focused throughout the meet, finishing with a score of 91; and
Whereas, exhibiting excellent form and spirit, team members encouraged each other to perform their best to achieve individual awards and to secure victory for the school; and
Whereas, the Spartanburg High School girls took home the county and region championships before advancing to the final state meet; and
Whereas, the 400 meter relay team of Arnetra Frazier, Jasmine Grayson, Tysha Smith, and Patria Norman brought great pride to their families and school by placing first in their event. The 1600 meter relay team of Santresa Jamison, Danesha Edwards, Tysha Smith, and Jasmine Grayson also captured top honors; and
