A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND CONGRATULATE THE REV. DR. MACK T. HINES FOR COMPLETING HIS STUDIES AND RECEIVING HIS DOCTOR OF MINISTRY DEGREE FROM HOOD THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY.

Whereas, the Rev. Dr. Mack Hines, a native of Florence County, South Carolina, was born in the town of Claussen, the elder son of Mrs. Susanna Hines and the late Mack T. Hines, Sr.; and

Whereas, the Rev. Hines is a graduate of Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969 and earned his Bachelor of Divinity Degree from Morris College in 1980. He has recently completed his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina; and

Whereas, Dr. Hines began his career as a teacher in Florence School District One, where he worked for twelve years, and in 1984 The Saint Paul Baptist Church ministry extended the invitation for the Rev. Hines to become the under Shepherd; and

Whereas, the Rev. Mack Hines’ acceptance of the pastorate of Saint Paul marked the beginning of a long and prosperous era in the history of the church. Under his dynamic leadership, members are constantly added to the fellowship and the Rev. Hines has championed youth education by organizing ministers to raise money for exceptional high school students to further their studies; and

Whereas, Dr. Hines is vice president of the Pee Dee Baptist Association; past secretary of the South Carolina Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention; vice moderator of the Florence and Affiliated Counties Union; president of the Mullins Area Ministerial Alliance; past member of the board of trustees of Morris College; and life member of the National Association For The Advancement of Colored People; and

Whereas, in addition to all his other church and local community service, the Rev. Mack Hines has served as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives since 1995. He also operates the Transitional Shelter For The Homeless, raising over two hundred thousand dollars for the homeless; and

Whereas, the Rev. Dr. Hines is the loving husband of the former Gladys Jackson, the proud father of three sons, Mack III, Michael, and Gregory, and the doting grandfather of two grandchildren and wants it known that his greatest enjoyment and satisfaction is that of being a pastor. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, honor and congratulate the Rev. Dr. Mack T. Hines for completing his studies and receiving his Doctorate of Ministry Degree from Hood Theological Seminary.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his wife, Gladys.
