A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE JOSHUA “JOSH” KYLE EVANS, OF CHERAW, SOUTH CAROLINA, FOR OBTAINING THE ELITE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT WITH THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout is a tremendous honor that very few Boy Scouts ever achieve, and it is recognized as one of the most prestigious awards that a young man can earn; and

Whereas, on December 12, 2004, Joshua “Josh” Kyle Evans, a member of Boy Scout Troop 655 at the First United Methodist Church in Cheraw, South Carolina, was awarded the coveted Eagle Scout Badge, the highest award in scouting; and

Whereas, to attain the rank of Eagle Scout, each scout must organize a service project in his community, and Josh chose as his project to repair and refurbish a building on the grounds of the First United Methodist Church, which was a meaningful contribution to the church and greatly enhanced the appearance of the church grounds; and

Whereas, Josh Evans, the son of David and Mary Jane Evans, is an excellent example of living the Scout Oath, a wellrounded student at Cheraw High School, and is a role model in his community; and

Whereas, Josh was selected to represent Cheraw High School at Palmetto Boys State the summer of 2004; he has been named captain of the Cheraw High School’s wrestling team, and he also plays soccer and runs track for Cheraw; and

Whereas, he has a great love of history and hopes to become a teacher and assistant scoutmaster so that he can pass on his knowledge and experiences to future generations; and

Whereas, Josh, a faithful member of his church, has been an active member of the church’s youth group, an usher, and a member of the church hand bell choir; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is pleased to have the opportunity to recognize such an outstanding young man as Joshua “Josh” Kyle Evans. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Joshua “Josh” Kyle Evans, of Cheraw, South Carolina, for obtaining the elite rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and extend best wishes to him in all of his future endeavors.
