A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE BELTONHONEA PATH HIGH SCHOOL “BEARS” FOOTBALL TEAM OF ANDERSON COUNTY ON THEIR STELLAR SEASON AND THEIR FIRST CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND HONORING THESE OUTSTANDING PLAYERS AND COACH WAYNE GREEN AND HIS COACHING STAFF.

Whereas, the BeltonHonea Path “Bears” of Anderson Country capped their phenomenal 2004 football season by capturing the AAA State Championship with a resounding 347 victory against Dillon High School; and

Whereas, the “Bears” were undefeated with an incredible 140 season, putting up a defense that couldn’t be budged, with four teams remaining scoreless and holding their opposition to a maximum of 13 and 14 points in only two games; and

Whereas, the “Bears” offense charged ahead, blowing away their opponents with their remarkable talent and skill, scoring 59, 35, and 34 points in three games and defeating their opponents by at least 22 points in seven games; and

Whereas, the BeltonHonea Path “Bears” won only the second Upper State Championship in the school’s history, soundly defeating rival Clinton High School 190; and

Whereas, the “Bears” final display of excellence put them over the top against Dillon High School 347, becoming the first team in BeltonHonea Path High School history to win a State Championship; and

Whereas, this history-making season surely signifies that the “Bears” are truly a power in South Carolina AAA football and is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and determination of the “Bears” and the superb coaching, guidance, and leadership of head coach Wayne Green and his outstanding coaching staff; and

Whereas, the BeltonHonea Path High School “Bears” have brought great pride and recognition to their school and their communities, and the General Assembly is pleased to have this opportunity to recognize this outstanding group of talented young men. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the BeltonHonea Path High School “Bears” football team of Anderson County on their stellar season and their first Class AAA State Championship and honor these outstanding players and Coach Wayne Green and his coaching staff.
