A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE MR. EDDIE WASHINGTON OF MARION, SOUTH CAROLINA, FOR WINNING THE PRESTIGIOUS NATIONAL HEAD START ASSOCIATION “FATHER OF THE YEAR” AWARD.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were very pleased to learn that Mr. Eddie Washington of Marion has won the “Father of the Year” Award of the National Head Start Association; and
Whereas, this prestigious award is presented to a Head Start father who has demonstrated outstanding participation, volunteerism, parental involvement, and advocacy for the Head Start Program; and
Whereas, Eddie Washington is a wonderful husband to his wife Rhonda, and a devoted father to sixyear old son, Eddie, and sixmonth old daughter, Eddriona; and
Whereas, as a Head Start volunteer, he is involved in monthly parent committee meetings with other male parents; and
Whereas, he uses his voice as a resource for all parents. He formed a maleinvolvement group that met for one hour after each parent committee meeting offering an opportunity for fathers and significant males to bond and plan activities for the center; and
Whereas, Eddie Washington has provided outstanding leadership as a parent, a Parent Committee member, Parent Committee president, Policy Council vice chairman, and is currently holding the office of Policy Council chairperson, and President of South Carolina Head Start Association Parent Affiliate; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this outstanding and dedicated father and husband upon his receipt of this truly deserved award. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Mr. Eddie Washington of Marion, South Carolina, for winning the prestigious National Head Start Association “Father of the Year” Award.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Washington.
