Bill Gray let the Group know that the total amount of funding available is £5000, which could be administered via the Small Grants Fund and through Participatory Budgeting (PB). There is also the potential of match funding from the Scottish Government but this would have to be administered via PB. Information on Participatory Budgeting can be found at
Gus Collins will attend the next meeting and provide an introduction/overview to Participatory Budgeting.
Key questions/points from discussion:
  • £5000 available in total - when does this have to spent by? The hope is that this funding will be administered by the end of March 2016 however Bill Gray intimated that it may be possible to carry forward towards the Summer.
  • This Group is still in early stages, let us get up and running first before we plan for this
  • This fund would be a real benefit; particularly in surrounding villages such as Loans
  • Communication is key - must be lots of people who could benefit from this
  • Only available for adults and older people at present
  • Small Grants steering group to be set up
  • Publicity and promotion
It was agreed that we should start promoting the Small Grants Fund prior to Sub Group being formed.
