A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE SINCERE GRATITUDE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO DENNIS LANIER OF LEXINGTON FOR HIS GENEROUS CONTRIBUTION TO BOTH LEXINGTON COUNTY AND THIS STATE IN AIDING IN THE LIFESAVING EFFORTS OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL PERSONNEL BY CONSTRUCTING A HELICOPTER LANDING ZONE ON HIS PRIVATE PROPERTY TO PROVIDE A SAFE FACILITY IN WHICH TO GIVE MEDICAL TREATMENT IN CRISIS SITUATIONS.

Whereas, emergency medical technicians provide a much needed and valuable service to all people of this State and nation; and

Whereas, it is critical for those technicians to have the general support and cooperation of the public in order to appropriately perform their lifesaving duties; and

Whereas, it is with selflessness and sense of community that private citizens offer their own services and property for the betterment of the general public and the enhancement of emergency medical services; and

Whereas, Dennis Lanier of Lexington has charitably given to his community in this way by providing a concrete landing pad, adjacent to his place of business in the Gaston area, for emergency medical service helicopters; and

Whereas, he has asked for no funding from either Lexington County or the State of South Carolina in offering this landing pad for public use; and

Whereas, both the Life Reach helicopter of Providence Hospital in Columbia and the Care Force helicopter of Palmetto Health Richland and Baptist hospitals in Columbia have made use of this landing pad on several occasions for the purpose of giving treatment in emergency situations. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, wish to extend their sincere gratitude to Dennis Lanier of Lexington for his generous contribution to both LexingtonCounty and this State in aiding in the lifesaving efforts of emergency medical personnel by constructing a helicopter landing zone on his private property to provide a safe facility in which to give medical treatment in crisis situations.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dennis Lanier of Lexington.
