A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE BISHOP ENGLAND HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD TEAM AND THEIR HEAD COACH, TONY COLIZZI, ON WINNING THE 2004 AA STATE TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK, COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, AND DEDICATION ON THEIR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE TRACK AND FIELD STATE TITLE.

Whereas, being a member of a sports team allows young people to have the opportunity to learn the skills of cooperation and teamwork while developing their athletic talents; and

Whereas, to be a champion in track and field, all members of the team and coaching staff must have outstanding leadership and physical abilities; and

Whereas, under the guidance and leadership of Head Coach, Tony Colizzi, the girls track and field team of Bishop England High School faced intimidating opponents and tough competition but their hard work and determination were well rewarded when the team captured the State 2004 AA Track and Field Championship Title; and

Whereas, along their journey to the championship, the team enjoyed the strength of their position as defending state title holder and also experienced great success throughout their season; and

Whereas, upon capturing the State Championship, the 2004 girls track and field team closed their winning season with their fourth consecutive championship victory since 2000; and

Whereas, the Bishop England Girls Track and Field Team has brought great pride, to not only their friends and family, but also to the students, faculty, alumni, and staff of Bishop England High School and the community as a whole; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that we recognize the talent and ability of these fine, young athletes and wish them much success in all of their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Bishop England High School Girls Track and Field Team and their Head Coach, Tony Colizzi, on winning the 2004 AA State Track and Field Championship and commend them for their hard work, competitive spirit, and dedication on their fourth consecutive Track and Field State Title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Bishop England High School Girls Track and Field Team and Head Coach Tony Colizzi.
