A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND HONOR SHANNON L. WYATT FOR HER DEDICATED LEADERSHIP AND THOROUGH SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY AS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS AT THE NORTHSIDE CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION IN SPARTANBURG.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly have become aware of the exceptional job performance of Shannon L. Wyatt at the South Carolina Department of Corrections Northside Correctional Institution in Spartanburg; and

Whereas, Shannon Wyatt’s current duties include supervising inmates and responding to their problems, conducting security checks and inmate counts, performing inspections and searches, preparing and submitting written reports, and maintaining safety and sanitation standards; and

Whereas, Ms. Wyatt’s leadership has been appreciated among professional associations as she received the Officer of the Fourth Quarter at Northside in 2000 and was chosen as the Correctional Officer of the Year for 2000; and

Whereas, Shannon Wyatt has a wonderful willingness to help her coworkers and do what is best for the institution. She worked long hours and volunteered assistance during the institution’s detailed reaccreditation process in October 2000, and works various shifts when needed; and

Whereas, Ms. Wyatt demonstrates professionalism with inmates, their families, the general public, and other staff. She displays leadership qualities and provides a positive working environment by correcting problems and making improvements on her own initiative; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations so that they might recognize and honor Shannon L. Wyatt for her positive contributions through her employment at the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and honor Shannon L. Wyatt for her dedicated leadership and thorough sense of responsibility as an employee of the South Carolina Department of Corrections at the Northside Correctional Institution in Spartanburg.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Shannon L. Wyatt of Spartanburg.
