A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE GREENVILLE HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY CHEERLEADING TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2001 CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ON DECEMBER 7, 2001, AND TO WISH THEM MUCH SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to honor the Greenville High School Varsity Cheerleaders for their outstanding accomplishment of winning the Class AAA State Championship on December 7, 2001, at Winthrop University; and

Whereas, this year marks the first time Greenville High School has ever qualified for the state championship. The girls defeated their rivals and the 1999 and 2000 state champions from Eastside High School in Greenville to win; and

Whereas, the Greenville High School cheerleaders also hold the title of 2001 Regional and Upper State Champions; and

Whereas, the cheerleaders have arduous practices during the week and provide support and encouragement for the athletes before, during, and after the games; and

Whereas, the Class AAA State Championship Cheerleading Team members are: Brittany Berry, Elizabeth Brigham, Noel Elie, Anne Cooper Ellefson, Jamie Freeman, Sarah Anne Harmon, Taylor Harper, Susan Hoskins, Lindsey Howes, Janie Johnson, Ellis McClenaghan, Haley McClure, Lindsey McKinney, Mary Elizabeth Parkinson, Lauren Peebles, Anna Renninger, Jordan Schmieding, Caroline Senn, Rebecca Senn, Rebecca Silberman, Donnieka Smith, Brantley Stribling, and Jennifer Stuart. These young ladies are coached and advised by Cindy Willett and assistant coach, Scott Foster; and

Whereas, the team motto for the 2001 season was “One Squad, One Goal, One Mission, State 2001”; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly applaud the members of the Greenville High School Varsity Cheerleading Team for accomplishing their mission and winning the 2001 Class AAA State Championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate the Greenville High School Varsity Cheerleading Team for winning the 2001 Class AAA State Championship on December 7, 2001, and wish them much success in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Greenville High School, 1 Vardry Street, Greenville, South Carolina, 29601.
