Whereas, Mary Gee Langston, who lives in the Timmonsville area of Florence County, became the director of the Camp Sexton camping program of the Central United Methodist Church on March 15, 1991; and

Whereas, Mary Gee retired after teaching at Hudgens Academy in Lynchburg for thirty years, and she has incorporated many of her teaching talents and skills into making the Camp Sexton day camp program educational and full of summer fun for all the campers; and

Whereas, each summer hundreds of children from kindergartners to sixth graders, children of different races, and from all walks of life attend camp. Mary is involved with every aspect of camp from administering the program and hiring well qualified staff to swimming, hiking, and even “shucking” corn with the young campers; and

Whereas, Mary Gee, who is the daughter of the late Marion and Evelyn Gee, is married to Wayne Langston. They are the proud parents of three children, Cam, Wendy, and Wayne and soon will be blessed with the birth of their first grandchild. Whereas, those who know Mary Gee Langston’s dedication to the success of Camp Sexton’s programs also admire and love her. She is truly an inspiration to others; and

Whereas, it is fitting for the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives to express their respect to this fine lady who has brought so much love to so many children in the Pee Dee area of our State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members recognize and commend Mary Gee Langston of Florence County for her ten years of dedicated work as the director of the Camp Sexton camping program of the Central United Methodist Church and thank her for her selfless attitude, many contributions, and caring ways which have made the day camp program so successful and important to the lives of its young campers.
