A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND CADET FREDERIC MARCINAK III, OF WALHALLA, FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC RECORD AND ACHIEVEMENTS AS A MEMBER OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA CORPS OF CADETS, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM ON BECOMING THE CITADEL’S TOP GRADUATE IN THE CLASS OF 2001.

Whereas, Cadet Frederic Marcinak III, of Walhalla, with straight A’s, a truly outstanding military record as a cadet, and all the credentials befitting a first honor graduate, is The Citadel’s top graduate in the Class of 2001; and

Whereas, a history major in the Honors Program at The Citadel, and a national finalist in the Rhodes Scholarship competition, Cadet Marcinak has long-term interests in law and politics; and

Whereas, Marcinak cultivated his interest in politics during his four years in the South Carolina Student Legislature. As a sophomore, Marcinak was voted “Best Senator” of the collegiate student assembly. He served as president pro tempore of the senate during his junior year and was elected governor by his peers from colleges statewide last year; and

Whereas, while collegiate governor Marcinak presented several bills to Governor Jim Hodges addressing concerns of college students. The bills dealt with issues such as lowering speed limits for trucks, offering sales tax holidays for backtoschool shopping, and endorsing educational vouchers. Marcinak considers politics a vehicle for making communities better and would like to see more political activism among young people; and

Whereas, following graduation from The Citadel, and a year of study in England on a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship, Marcinak will return to South Carolina to enter the University of South Carolina Law School. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Cadet Frederic Marcinak III, of Walhalla, for his outstanding academic record and achievements as a member of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, and to congratulate him on becoming The Citadel’s top graduate in the Class of 2001.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Frederic Marcinak III, of Walhalla.
