A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE BISHOP THEODORE R. MYERS OF RICHLAND COUNTY UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS INSTALLATION AS DIOCESAN BISHOP OF THE BIBLE WAY CHURCHES OF SOUTH CAROLINA ON FRIDAY, MAY 11, 2001.

Whereas, Bishop Theodore R. Myers is married to the former Nan Sumter, and together they are the proud parents of three sons and two daughters; and

Whereas, he honorably served his country for four and one-half years as a sailor with the United States Navy; and

Whereas, Bishop Myers received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Benedict College; and

Whereas, his work experience includes: Director of Student Recruitment for Benedict College; Director of Institutional Planning and Development for Morris College; and Director of Information and Public Education for the Three Rivers Health Systems Agency; and

Whereas, Bishop Myers is the Founder and Pastor of the South Richland Bible Way Church in Gadsden, South Carolina, and the Founder, Director, and Principal of the Central Carolina Christian Academy; and

Whereas, he has served as General Superintendent of the Bible Way Church World Wide, Inc., for eight years, served as a District Elder for the Pee Dee Region of the South Carolina Diocese for eight years, was consecrated as a Bishop of the Bible Way Church for our Lord Jesus Christ World Wide, Inc., in 1988, is a founding member of the Board of South Carolina Burned Church Coalition, has testified before the South Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee on hate crime legislation and before the United States Congress for the implementation of national church arson legislation, is a founding member and a member of the Board of South Carolina Environmental Watch, has been recognized in Whose Who Among Outstanding Educators; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the South Carolina General Assembly to pause in the deliberations to congratulate Bishop Myers upon the occasion of his installation as Diocesan Bishop for the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Bishop Theodore R. Myers of Richland County upon the occasion of his installation as Diocesan Bishop of the Bible Way Churches of South Carolina on Friday, May 11, 2001.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Bishop Theodore R. Myers.
