CANADIAN CANOE TRIP

“WHAT TO BRING”

q Passport

q Money for food on our way up and back (fast food)

q Balance of registration payment if applicable

q Sleeping bag (Polarguard, Holofill, or other good synthetic fill)

q Ground pad (Ensolite, ethafoam, Therm-a-rest, etc) or air mattress

q Rain suit with hood or rain hat, and rain pants

q Whistle: Must work in water. The Fox 40 is recommended.

q 6 Lengths of 550 cord or ¼ inch braided nylon rope cut to 4 foot lengths with ends melted to avoid fraying

q Baseball-style or wide-brimmed hat

q Two pair long pants, Two pair shorts

q Swim suit

q T-shirts (NO wording or pictures which would not be appropriate for

Christians or Sequoia Brigade Camp)

q Windbreaker or jacket

q Sweater or sweat shirt and other warm clothing

q Wool ski cap

q Underwear

q 9 Pairs of Socks (Enough for the ride up and back, plus one pair each day on the circuit)

q Two pair tennis shoes or boots, one which will get wet, one stay dry

q Two or more towels

q Toilet articles, bio-degradable soap for the circuit. Shower stuff for way back.

q Sunblock or sunscreen, lip ice

q Flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries

q Canteen or water bottle

q Cup/bowl/plate/utensils

q Mosquito repellent (liquid, not spray)

q Bible

q Pen(s) or pencil(s)

q Backpack to carry all personal equipment and some group gear

q Small overnight bag

q Small bag for scented items (placed in bear lockers each night)

q Travel clothes (Clean clothes for trip up and back. Will be left in vehicle while we canoe. Carry in a small overnight bag)

q Tent (4-5 man) - optional

q Sun glasses with safety strap

q Pocket knife, whistle

q Camera (at your own risk)

q If you wear glasses you will need a safety strap for them

q Soft knee pads (for kneeling in the canoe)

q Flipflops (optional)

q Roll of toilet paper in a zip-loc bag
