20 July 2017 For immediate release

Beaminster and Villages Local Area Partnership (BAVLAP) are seeking a new Chair, following many highly successful years as Chair, Rosemary Beeny has decided to stand down.

“After nine positive years in which we have a built up a successful partnership for the Beaminster and Villages area in which we have influenced many changes for the good in the area e.g. supporting the development of Yarn Barton as a Community Centre for Beaminster, with Wyvern Savings & Loans Service point weekly after the closure of the bank, getting an Outreach for CAB visiting regularly, producing a local business directory covering the villages and supporting the opening of Broadwindsor Community shop, amongst many other local issues.

I feel now is time for a new chair to move BAVLAP onto the next stage of development.

Beaminster and Villages Local Area Partnership (BAVLAP) brings together a range of voluntary, community, public and private sector organisations who want to work together to improve the quality of life and well-being of people living in this part of West Dorset. Established in 2008, the Partnership has worked together to develop and implement many of the aims contained within the BAVLAP Area Action Plan. BAVLAP is one of 5 Local Area Partnerships (LAPs) within West Dorset, all of whom of members of the West Dorset Partnership (WDP).

The successful candidate will chair the partnership as well as liaise With Dorset Community Action who provide Co-ordinator support to BAVLAP and West Dorset District Council and other Local Area Partnerships in West Dorset.

We are looking for someone who is used to partnership working and knows the Beaminster and villages reasonably well, said Rosemary Beeny. “This is an opportunity to make a significant difference and contribution to the lives of local people by encouraging the wide range of local organisations to work together as effectively as possible”.

The closing date for application is the 24 August 2017, for more information and an application pack, contact Jo Keats at Dorset Community Action 01305 216403 / 07421 994591
