CAREER POSTER

Date Due: Wednesday, August 30th 2016

You will create a “career poster” that describes a career and demonstrates ways that math is used in that career. You will need to do the following:

1)Interview an adult about their career and how they use math as part of that career.

2)Summarize your interview in a paragraph or two using complete sentences.

3)Create your career poster. It must include:

  1. A title stating the career of the person you interviewed.
  2. The name of the person interviewed.
  3. Your summary of the interview
  4. An example of at least one math problem (worked out) from the chosen adult’s career.
  5. At least one picture that relates to the career. The picture can be a photograph of the person you interviewed, a picture from a magazine/the internet representing something about the career or a drawing that you create that represents the career.
  6. Your name and class period (in bottom right corner of poster)

All information is to be on the front of the poster. The size of the poster will be 12 x 18 – I will give you one sheet of construction paper in class that you can use, or you can get your own and make sure it is this size.

Note: This is a project and the rubric I will use to assess you is on the back of this sheet (paper clip it to the front of your poster when you turn it in). To ensure the best possible score, please pay attention to the following:

  • Either type your summary and print out on copy paper or hand-write VERY legibly and go over in a black pen.
  • Use glue (preferably a glue stick) for assembling. Tape looks messy.
  • Reread #3 above after you think you are finished – double check that you have EVERYTHING required!
  • Neatness and effort matter.

Make sure that it is not late as I will not accept Late Passes for it!

If you finish early, you may turn it in early.
