7.  William the Conqueror-Conquered England in 1066 under Norman invasion known as Battle of Hastings, created the Bayeaux Tepesty to depict his victory, brought Feudalism to England, created Tower of London

8.  Feudalism-Social contract: Granting land to loyal subjects called vassals in return. This helps some of the chaos going on in Europe. There is no social ladder to climb.

16.  Joan of Arc-Helped rally the French ; accused of witchcraft and heresy

17.  Battle of Hastings-Norman victory in 1066

18.  Anti-Semitism-Discrimination against Jewish people

19.  Carthusian monks-Lived as hermits, sheltered from the outside world

20.  Guilds-Associations of workers to keep quality high

21.  Diocese- a group of parishes by geographic region

22.  Inventions from crusades- clock, windmill, compass

23.  Charlemagne’s empire- consisted of Italy, Spain, France (Eastern Europe)

24.  Alcuin- brought in by Charlemagne to help him set up a school system to educate people to then help spread Christianity

25.  Pope Urban- Starts 1st crusade and gave a speech to inspire support and participants
