Summary of Responsibilities:
In a center-based early childhood classroom, the Pre-K Counts teacher is responsible for managing all aspects of services-planning, coordination, recordkeeping, problem solving, lesson planning, management of classroom, and communications.
The Pre-K Counts teacher is responsible for showing progress with all students and will work diligently to complete accurate observations and assessments of children. The Pre-K Counts teacher is responsible for entering all necessary observations and assessments online and will meet with parents when needed and at minimum will offer3 individual meetings per year to discuss each child’s progress. The Pre-K Counts teacher will follow all DPW and STARS regulations at all times and is required to attend mandatory trainings as well as provide current clearances: FBI, Child Abuse Clearance, and State PA Criminal Clearance.
The Pre-K Counts Teacher is ultimately responsible for maintaining a high-quality early childhood environment that focuses on: developmentally appropriate practices, PA early-learning standards, compliance with all regulations, excellent customer-services skills, and an ability to communicate successfully to all staff, children, families, and administration.
The ideal candidate for this position will have 2 years experience in an early childhood preschool setting and will be able to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. All eligible candidates must possess a BA/BS in Early Childhood Education and must possess a current PA Early Childhood Education Certification and must provide proof of this upon interviewing.
This position requires regular and punctual attendance and will include mandatory in-service and work days. This position will work 205 days per year. This position requires additional professional development and work towards PA Level II Certification as indicated in the Pre-K Counts Teacher’s contract and timeline given.
This position will require a new contract to be signed each year. Failure to maintain any of the standards or expectations in this position will result in disciplinary action and/or termination of the contract. Meadville Children’s Center is an at-will employer.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
  • BA/BS in Early Childhood Education
  • Current PA ECE Certification
Preferred Additional Qualifications
  • 2 or more years experience in ECE programs

Physical Requirements:

  1. Be able to stand and walk for 30 minutes
  2. Sit in adult chairs for 60 minutes continuously
  3. Sit in child-sized chairs for 30 minutes continuously
  4. Sit on the floor for 30 minutes continuously
  5. Be able to squat, kneel, bend, and crawl frequently and continuously
  6. Push 20 pounds on flat surfaces
  7. Lift and carry 50 pounds
  8. Hear and see within normal ranges
  9. Work indoors between temperatures 60 and 90 degrees
  10. Work outdoors between temperatures 20 and 95 degrees
  11. Have finger dexterity to write, cut, type, staple, buckle, and related
  12. Be able to work in noise that is typical in an early childhood classroom
