Physics Bingo

1)  Have students draw a 5x5 grid. They can mark “free” any square they wish.

2)  Have students agree on how Bingo may be achieved.

3)  Fill in the other squares with the following vocabulary (on the left)

4)  Read the clues (on the right) in random order until someone has Bingo.

9.81 m/s2 / Acceleration due to gravity near Earth’s surface
Acceleration / Equal to Net force divided by mass
Force / Any push or pull on an object
Free Body Diagram / A picture showing all the forces acting on an object
Friction / Caused by two surfaces rubbing together
Frictionless / A very slippery surface like an air table or ice
FT / The force of tension
Galileo / Original discoverer of the law of inertia
Gravity / Force exerted by a planet on objects close by
Inertia / An object at rest tends to stay at rest
Inertial reference frames / Newton’s laws only work in these places
Kilograms / Unit used for mass
Mass / Amount of matter contained in an object
Mrs. Clarke / Your favourite Physics teacher
Net force / The sum of all the forces acting on an object
Newton’s 1st Law / Another name for the law of inertia
Newton’s 2nd Law / Net force equals mass times acceleration
Newton’s 3rd Law / For every action force there is a reaction force of equal magnitude and opposite direction
Newtons / The unit used for forces
Normal Force / The force exerted by a support surface, like a table, on an object
Sir Isaac Newton / Discovered the three laws of motion
Unbalanced / This kind of force always causes an acceleration
Weight / Another word for the force of gravity acting on an object
Zero / What acceleration is for an object at rest or going at constant velocity
μ / The coefficient of friction
