Sunday
2-3:30 pm: Check In at our dorms- Manchester and Fletcher
- Turn left on Campus Center from Rt. 261
- Veer right
- Turn right on E. Summit St.
- Turn left on Loop Rd.
- Turn left on Eastway Dr.
- The dorms are at the end of Eastway Dr. on the right. You may park in that lot to drop off luggage. If staying, ask for a parking pass and where to park your car.
Kent State will disperse room keys to chaperones. Students will be responsible for their key or they will have to pay a $40 replacement fee. Students must enter the dorm with their luggage through the designated door(s) only. All luggage will be checked thoroughly by floor chaperones before the student takes it to their room. (Procedures change according to dorms)
Check-In Procedures
- Check in at “form/lanyard” table to turn in any remaining forms and get badge and lanyard
- Proceed to correct floor and take all belongings to the lounge on corresponding floor to checked by chaperones
- Get key from chaperone and move in.
- Meet at 4:45pm in front of rotunda for dinner (with instruments).
5:00 pm: Dinner (meet at 4:45pm with instruments)
Tickets will be passed out to students before they go through the buffet line. Every student must eat something.
6:00 pm: Outdoor Field Practice
For all outdoor practices –pencils, music, instrument, lyre, sunscreen, and water jug– chaps will provide water cups
9:00 pm: Organized Free Time
Seniors will have planned activities all week – all students must attend at least for one half hour before going to their rooms. Chaperones will monitor all halls at all times.
11:00 pm: Lights Out
Cell phone usage during the night is limited to emergency use only. Do not abuse this or cell phone will be taken away. Everyone needs sleep and should not be on their phone all night.
Monday through Thursday
7:00 am: Room Inspection
All students should be ready to go by 7:00 sharp – this means teeth brushed, showers done, dressed for the day. Be sure all rooms are clean – every wrapper in the wastebasket.
7:15 am: Breakfast (with instruments)
Everyone must attend breakfast – you don’t have to eat a lot but you must eat something.
8:30 am: Outdoor Field Practice
Same as above
Noon: Lunch
Same buffet line using tickets
1:00 pm: Indoor Sectionals
Please make sure you have your music stand. Chaps & directors will wander around and check on groups scattered around. Student sectionals may be held on dorm floors but once sectional is over, students must leave immediately if in a “no fly zone”. All sectional areas will be pre-approved by Mrs. Hire.
3:00/3:30 pm: Free Time
No student is allowed to wander the campus. Students may practice for music check off; students may take a nap if all music is checked off. Check with seniors to see what they might have planned for activities.
5:00 pm: Dinner (with instruments)
All Students must attend and must eat.
6:00 pm: Outdoor Field Practice
See above
9:00 pm: Organized Free Time
Same as above- except Thursday night, pack room as much as possible before going to bed.
11:00 pm: Lights Out
Friday
7:00 am: Inspection
7:15 am: Breakfast (with instruments)
8:30 am: Outdoor Field Practice
11:00/11:30 am: Check Out
Each student is responsible for taking all of his or her stuff to the truck. Then, find the floor chaperone for inspection of room and turn in key. Students need to be in full summer uniform.
Noon/12:30 pm: Lunch
1:30 pm: Load buses to head back to Wadsworth
2:30 pm: Arrive at Art Wright Stadium
3:00 pm: Unload and run show at the Stadium, then relax before the show.
4:00 pm: Meet the Marching Grizzlies. Enjoy the show and food trucks. Please make sure you take your child’s medication and ALL of their belongings. Please check to make sure you have your child’s belongings and not those of someone else.
CHECK - OUT PROCEDURES
BEFORE YOU GET A CHAPERONE TO CHECK YOU OUT, YOU MUST:
1. Locate your roommate
2. Unpack all drawers and closets- leave all drawers and closets open for inspection!
3. Check all room areas for trash- under the beds, under the desks and in the closets.
4. Sweep the floors (Chaperones will have brooms)
5. Tie off trash and place in hall. Pay attention to recyclables!
6. Dress in summer uniform and take all luggage to the truck located outside the parking lot.
7. Return to room with your roommate and find a chaperone to officially check out of room.
o Chaperone will collect BOTH card keys (or 3 in case of triples) and will close the door.
o THERE WILL BE NO RE-ENTERING ONCE KEYS ARE HANDED IN!!!
