2.0 Angling Regulations

2.1. Angling

2.1.1. The dates for fishing in the Societies waters shall be those laid down by the Management Committee

2.1.2. Members when fishing, must be in possession of and able to produce on demand the appropriate

Environmental Agency License / Licenses.

2.1.3. It is not permitted to remove any fish from any of the Societies waters.

2.1.4. The maximum number of rods permitted for use by members shall be limited to two (2).

2.1.5. No rod will ever be left unattended while being used for fishing.

2.1.6. Keep nets must NOT be used on any of the Societies waters, except during an official authorised competition.

2.1.7. A member may be accompanied by his/her wife/husband or partner, or one child if under 16 years of age to fish with

him/her; but at all times in the same swim subject to the maximum number of rods permitted as provided for in clause 2.1.4 hereof.

2.1.8. When on the waters, junior members must be accompanied at all times, either by their sponsor or other person who

must have previously obtained the written approval of the Committee

2.1.9. Middle Mead may be fished only by members who have paid the additional premium.

2.1.10. There shall be no Pike fishing on Society waters except between the dates of October 1st to March 31st inclusive

2.1.11. The use of an unhooking mat is compulsory on all of the Societies waters

2.1.12. All members specifically targeting Carp MUST be in possession of a landing net with not less than 36 inch arms in

diameter, those members who like to float fish on one rod and ledger for Carp on a second ARE targeting Carp and must comply with this regulation.

2.1.13. A mainline of minimum 12lb B.S.is to be used for all carp angling on society waters.

2.2 Banned Methods

2.2.1. The use of particle baits such as chick peas and seed baits such as hemp used as ground bait is restricted to 1Kilo

dry weight per angler per session.

2.2.2. The use of Peanuts and Tigernuts is banned.

2.2.3. The use of shelf life boillies is restricted to hook baits and stringers only

2.2.4. Running leads only on all waters

2.2.5. The maximum casting weight allowable on rigs is 2.5 oz’s ( 70 grammes)

2.2.6. The use of leadcore leaders is banned.

2.2.7. The use of braided mainline is banned on society waters.This does not apply to spod and marker rod lines when

only used for this purpose.

2.3 Privilege Ticket

2.3.1. A privilege ticket is issued for the period from dawn till dusk. The starting time will be entered on the ticket as

requested by the member for his or her guest who MUST be accompanied at all times.

2.3.2. The ticket may be collected from Pete’s Tackle in Rochford Road {next to CO-OP Stores} and can only be booked

up to 14 days in advance.

2.3.3. A member must accept full responsibility for any visitor taken to the water with a privilege ticket. The ticket must be

in the member’s possession before commencing to fish. No purported verbal authorisation is acceptable under any conditions or circumstances.

2.3.4. Only two tickets will be available in any 24 hour period.

2.3.5. Each member is allowed a maximum of 5 privilege tickets in any one (1) membership year.

2.4 Unauthorised Persons

2.4.1. The societies waters shall be adequately policed and it is an implied condition of membership for members to assist

in this by asking courteously but firmly any person to produce his or her membership card at the same time showing his or her own as an authority for doing so.

2.5 Poaching

2.5.1. No member shall carry a gun, catapult, net or snare for the purpose of catching any animal or bird in areas rented by

the Society or on land accessible from those areas. Any member doing so will immediately be expelled.

2.6 Shelters

2.6.1. These are provided for the shelter and storage of the Societies equipment. They must not be used for the storage of

any members gear or equipment.

2.7 Litter

2.7.1. Any person found leaving litter will be expelled from the Society.

2.8 Noise Pollution

2.8.1. Members are requested to use Bite alarms, Mobile Phones and Radios etc with discretion, to avoid annoyance to

other members.

2.9 Dogs

2.9.1. Dogs are not permitted at any of the Societies waters.

2.10 Disabled Swims

2.10.1. Certain swims have been or may be in the future adapted for the use of disabled anglers and should be clearly

marked. Non disabled anglers may use these swims when not required by the disabled, but it should be remembered that the disabled may not be able to commence fishing as early as others and the non disabled should cooperate by moving if necessary to another swim. Equally, the disabled angler should remember that where there is another equally suitable disabled swim available he/she does not have the right to request the non disabled to move.

3.0 Match Regulations

3.1- Matches to be "all in" and pegged down unless otherwise stated...

3.2 - Competitors on drawing their peg number may proceed to their pegs but must not on any account ground bait the

swim before the start signal. Competitors may however wet ground bait, fix a keep net and plumb the depth

3.3- Competitors are to only have one rod, one line and one hook in use at any time. Any number of rods may be put

together. Any bait is permitted except live or dead fish, spinning baits, peanuts and tiger nuts.

3.4- Competitors must play and land their own fish. All fish in season are eligible for weighing in except pike and game

fish.

3.5- Competitors must supply themselves with keep nets of adequate size and all carp of greater than 7lbs caught in

matches must be weighed when caught and returned to the water immediately. Match officials will arrange procedures. With the exception of 3.5b.

Small carp caught (other than crucians) must be held in a separate net which shall be carp friendly and of suitable size. All fish must be live for weighing in. After weighing in must be returned quickly and carefully to the water.

3.5b- For the season 2011/12 on matches held on the Puddle, Sanctuary and Wallasea waters the following rule will apply.

Carp may be retained in a “Carp Fishery” approved type net (min length 3.0 meters) up to a limit of 7lbs (individually) and a net total of 50lbs for the duration of the match. Fish in excess of 7lbs weight must be weighted, witnessed and recorded, then returned to the water immediately.

3.6- Any competitor leaving litter at his peg will be disqualified.

3.7- The steward shall have the power to weigh in a competitors catch during the match if it appears that injury may be

caused to the fish if kept in the net. The steward is to return the fish carefully to the water after weighing.

3.8- Competitors for the Vlotman trophy include all young persons under 16 and related to members whether they are

junior members or not.

3.9- Competitors for the FaultleyHowell cup include all wives, daughters and girlfriends whether they are themselves

members or not.

3.10- Ground bait is restricted to 1 Kg dry weight per person.

3.11- The use of floating baits and feed including dry ground bait is not permitted in any matches on the Society fisheries.

Any transgression of the above rules will automatically disqualify a competitor from weighing in.
