1st Year Students RMHC Fall Clinical Meeting

Tuesday 11/7/17 – RWEC 202

Review of Kim’s Clinical Role

·  Practicum and Internship site development, support and collaboration.

·  Practicum placement including direction to students on site point of contact and timelines; if required site visit, program application, orientation, and background check.

·  Supporting students with exploring, applying for and securing Internships both in and out of state to meet their program track requirements and any funding restrictions (ie. RSA or VAVR).

·  Maintaining RMHC Clinical Options WordPress, Practicum and Internship Moodle, and clinical handbooks.

·  Training and support of clinical faculty and site supervisors.

·  Insuring that clinical course requirements meet with accreditation standards.

What to expect with Practicum

·  Small class size; 4 to 5 students to one faculty

·  First two classes (1/10 & 1/17) all students meet together for Practicum Orientation in RWEC 108 from 1pm to 3:50pm – if needing accommodations make requests now

·  Weekly counseling sessions with a volunteer client(s) – 1 to 2 clients weekly Winter term

·  Weekly supervision with Practicum group

·  One-on-one individualized supervision with faculty

·  Minimum Practicum hours (total for Winter, Spring and Fall):

40 direct service hours (direct client contact + indirect client contact)

o  100 hours (direct service hours + supervision time)

4. January Internship Fair – day/time TBA; many programs will interview at fair

5. Update resume over break; set Career and Service Learning appointments
