1St Regional Ecareer WORKSHOP a Huge Success

1St Regional Ecareer WORKSHOP a Huge Success

1st Regional eCareer WORKSHOP a huge success

An eCareer Workshop was conducted on Sunday, November 5th at the Perrysburg Post Office 43551 as a collaborative effort with the United Postmasters and Managers of America (UPMA) as it begins the new fiscal year with focus on employee development. The event was open to all postal employees both career and non-career to help them develop an “A to Z” plan for their individual career progression.

A total of 51 employees attended the event where information ranging from eCareer development on the profile to interview skills, job knowledge and where to find information along with other key topics needed for advancement. In addition to the presentations of material that included robust discussion, one on one interviews were also conducted for both Supervisor and Postmaster positions using actual questions they can expect on future interviews. Those with eCareer portfolios were also given the ‘red pen’ test for review.

POOM Area 8 Scott Wise addresses the employees gathered at the eCareer Workshop in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Postmaster Paul Joseph serves as a Director in UPMA and has been conducting workshops and mini-sessions across the District. It was decided at the last state convention for UPMA that a more proactive approach will be undertaken to assist all employees with career development and to prepare them for future opportunities.

“We cannot sit back and wait for opportunities and expect employees to be ready. We need to create those conditions now to set them up for success. Our future greatly depends on that happening” stated Mr. Joseph.

The concept and event does not replace the eCareer Conference that the Northern Ohio District holds annually which will take place next May. Instead, it enhances that event by giving employees the time and tools needed so they can attend with a solid portfolio in hand ready to make those key connections with leadership. The workshops will continue to be held around the District so as to afford opportunity for all.

The next scheduled workshop events are as follows (future emails will also be announcing this):

January 21, 2018 – Youngstown Main Post Office

January 28, 2018 –Northern Ohio District office, Cleveland 2200 Orange Avenue

Mark your calendar now and make plans to attend either or both events and spread the word!
