1. SITUATION

  1. Enemy Forces – Limited time to utilize range facilities.
  1. Friendly Forces - DFW Gun Range personnel.
  1. Attachments and Detachments - None

1) Our request for funding will be met.

2. Mission

On August 5, 2001, 1st Battalion, 355th Regiment(-) moves by battery to the DFW Gun Range to conduct individual weapons familiarization and qualification.

3. EXECUTION

  1. Commander’s Intent – The goal of this exercise is to conduct individual weapons familiarization/qualification in a timely manner and as realistically as possible. The DFW Gun Range should prove to be an adequate and convenient facility to conduct the necessary training. Drill Sergeants will be the only personnel qualifying at this time. All personnel will wear their TA-50 while on the range. Each battery commander is responsible for his battery’s movement to and from the range.
  1. Concept of Operations – 0600 hrs, Sunday August 5, 2001, Charlie Battery personnel will meet S-4 personnel at the USARC to load weapons and ammunition on to military vehicles. At 0635 C Battery and S-4 personnel will depart for DFW Gun Range. At 0700, gun range employees will open the range building. All weapons, ammunition and necessary equipment will be off loaded into the building. Loading of magazines and setting up of targets will be completed before the main body arrives. The main body, Alpha and Bravo Battery personnel, will depart the SP at 0740 from the USARC immediately following the BN formation. Arrival of main body is expected by 0805, at which time the first firing order will be put together. As firers come off the firing line they will move to the grading table and then move to the classroom to clean weapons. All trash will be consolidated in the classroom for easy removal by clean up personnel. After weapons pass inspection by S-4 personnel, battery personnel will then be turned over to their respective battery commanders for movement back to the USARC. After all Alpha and Bravo Drill Sergeants have qualified, Charlie will qualify. Charlie will clean up the facility, load weapons and equipment on to military vehicles and prepare for departure. Remaining personnel will depart for USARC NLT 1230 hrs. Charlie personnel will assist S-4 personnel in offloading the equipment at the USARC.

1) S1 – Sunday morning sign in roster for S-4 and Charlie battery personnel departing prior to battalion formation.

a) NLT COB 5 May 01, Submit training area request.

b) NLT COB 5 May 01, submit request for DFW Gun Range funding.

3) S4 -

a)NLT COB 5 May 01, Submit request for 20 MRE’s: for supporting personnel (S-4 and Charlie battery personnel)

b) NLT COB 5 May 01, Coordinate with S-3 on DFW Gun Range funding and use of government credit card.

c)NLT COB 5 May 01, Submit request for M-16A1/A2 ammunition.

4)Each Battery -

a)NLT Aug 4, 2001 All personnel qualifying will draw TA-50.

b)Each battery will draw a medical bag and designate a combat lifesaver.

d. Coordinating Instructions - The Designated Route from the reserve center to DFW Gun Range and return is:

1)East bound on 303 to Loop 12.

2) North on Loop 12 exit 183 E.

3) 183 E exit Mockingbird Ln.

3) Turn left on Mockingbird Ln.

4) Turn left on Oakbrook and into the parking lot of DFW Gun Range.

4. SERVICE SUPPORT

a. Materiel and Services -

1) Materiel -

a) Class I (rations) – Supporting personnel will be prepared to draw a MRE at the range, as time and the situation necessitates.

b) Class II (clothing/individual equipment) - Uniform is BDU, Kevlar, and LCE.

c) Class III (fuel) – Top off military vehicles.

d) Class IV (barrier material) - N/A

e) Class V (ammunition) – 2000-2500 rounds of M-16A1/A2 ammunition. No tracer rounds are permitted on this range.

f) Class VI (personal demand items) - N/A

g) Class VII (major end items) - N/A

h) Class VIII (medical) – One lifesaver bag per battery.

i) Class IX (repair parts) - N/A
