QUICK NOTES:

PSAT, October 12th.The PSAT will be administered on Wednesday, October 12th. Only 11th graders will be required to register and submit the test fee. Completed forms with fee must be turned into the Main Office by October 7th. The registration form is available in the Main Office as well as on B-CC’s web site home page under “News” (more details to follow).

1ST B-CC PTSA MEETING: Tuesday, September 20th, 7:00 pm, cafeteria.

SENIOR PARENT MEETING: Tuesday, September 27th, at 7pm in the auditorium. The meeting will last approximately 1 hour.

PARKING PERMITS ISSUED:

Student Parking Permits will be issued Monday, September 19th – Friday,September 23, 2011. There will be a list posted outside of the financial window. If you have any questions please see Lily in Security.

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY APPLICATIONS – DEADLINE

National Art Honor Society application must be turned into Ms. White, in Room B127 no later than Monday, September 26th. (White – WTF)

FALL PLAYS PARENT MEETING:

On Tuesday, September 20th, there will be a meeting for the parents and guardians of ALL students involved in our fall plays. The meeting will be in the school auditorium beginning at 7:00 pm. If your student is a cast or crew member then this meeting is for you!

Please come, meet the directors, learn what you kids will be doing, take a tour, and find out how you can help support the program.

CAREER PARTNERSHIP DAY:

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Not sure what career is

right for you? Consider attending Career Partnership Day. This is a great opportunity for students to explore the world of work by visiting workplace sites and shadowing a volunteer mentor for the day.

Career Partnership helpsstudents prepare fortheir future by revealing new careers to them and giving them the opportunity to see firsthand the connection between learning and earning.

Former students that have participated in career partnership day have visited places like Bethesda Magazine, Imagination Stage, NIH, NIST, Suburban Hospital and Voice ofAmerica.

Access to apply for this program will require a computer and will be open to all eligible B-CC students beginning at 11:00 am on Monday, October 3rd and will remain open through Friday, October 21st. (Pratt/Farrar)

FALL B-CC BLOOD DRIVE:

Donors are needed for the annualfall B-CC Theater blood drive taking place in the AUDITORIUM on Wednesday, October 5th. If you will be 16 years old by October 5th, then please visit Mr. Boswell's office in the basement wing of the school, across from Room E031, to sign up for a donation time and to get more information.

Last year, B-CC students helped the community by donating 67 units of blood. Our goal for this year is 80 units. Please sign up today to help keep our community blood banks full. (Boswell)

C&O 5K – STUDENT ORGANIZED:

  • B-CC junior Greg Picard has organized a 5K race to benefit the C & O Canal Trust, which helps repair and preserve this important regional resource.
  • The C & O 5K takes place on Sunday, September 18th, at 8AM, at Meadowbrook Park, Chevy Chase.
  • Come join your neighbors and friends on this fast, flat course. Registration includes a t-shirt, post-race goodies, awards for top finishers and random prize drawings for all.
