Book Report Requirements:

1.  You must read a book with at least 150-200 pages. (Your choice must be approved by the teacher.)

2.  You must complete any three of the assignment choices listed.

3.  Your complete book report must be turned in on time.

4.  Your complete book report must be submitted to Turnitin.com. Students will not receive credit for plagiarized reports.

The List of acceptable Book Report Assignments:

1.  Summarize the book in poem form with rhyme (minimum 20 lines).

2.  Discuss in depth the relevance of the title—How does it relate to the major incidents in the novel? (No less than three paragraphs.)

3.  Write a letter to the author. You could—ask questions, discuss your thoughts and opinions about the main character, address your analysis of the novels theme, anything substantial in depth. (No less than one typed page.)

4.  Use two other sources to research and write a report on an issue from the book. (No less than one typed page.)

5.  Q & A - Pretend you're interviewing a person from the book. Write your interview in question and answer format. (No less than twenty questions. Make up the questions, and answer them as the character would.)

6.  Compare and contrast the book with another book you have read. Discuss at least five similarities and five differences (No less than one typed page.)

7.  Discuss cause and effect relationships you found in the book. (No less than one typed page.)

8.  Write an editorial based on a controversial issue in the book. (No less than one typed page.)

9.  Write a letter to one of the characters in the book. (No less than one typed page.)

10.  As a literary agent, write a letter to the publishing company designed to persuade them to publish this book. (No less than one typed page.)

11.  Choose your favorite passage from the book. Copy it down and discuss what you found appealing about it. (Your response must be no less than one typed page.)

12.  Top 10 List - list ten things you learned from this book.

13.  Write an obituary for a character who dies in the novel. (No less than one typed page.)

14.  Write your own test - a combination of matching, multiple choice, true/false, short answer, and essay. (No less than 20 questions total. You must submit an answer sheet for the test.)

15.  Journal as you go - As you're reading the book, keep a two-sided reading journal. The left side should have quotes from the book and page numbers. The right side should have your questions, thoughts, observations, revelations, etc. (No less than 20 entries.)
