2Competence is to be demonstrated on at least three occasions of taking part in dixie wash processes.

Elements and performance criteria

Element 1

Set up the dixie wash machine.

Performance criteria

1.1The dixie wash machine is set up in accordance with the company operating procedures.

1.2The dixie wash machine is set up in accordance with the company quality assurance policies and procedures.

1.3The dixie wash machine is set up in accordance with the company safety policies and procedures.

Element 2

Prepare to wash dixies.

Performance criteria

2.1Washing preparations are in accordance with the company safety policies and procedures.

2.2Washing preparations are in accordance with the company operating procedures.

2.3Washing preparations are in accordance with the company quality assurance policies and procedures.

2.4Washing preparations ensure the separation between clean and dirty dixies is in accordance with the company operating and quality assurance policies and procedures.

Element 3

Operate the dixie wash machine.

Performance criteria

3.1The dixie wash machine is operated in accordance with the company safety policies and procedures.

3.2The dixie wash machine is operated in accordance with the company operating procedures.

3.3The dixie wash machine is operated in accordance with the company quality assurance policies and procedures.

3.4Quality control checks are carried out on clean dixies in accordance with the company quality assurance policies and procedures.

3.5Corrective action is taken when quality standard is not met, in accordance with the company operating procedures.

Element 4

Stack and/or wrap clean dixies.

Performance criteria

4.1Clean dixies are stacked and/or wrapped in accordance with the company safety policies and procedures.

4.2Clean dixies are stacked and/or wrapped in accordance with the company quality assurance policies and procedures.

4.3Stacking and/or wrapping processes ensure the separation between clean and dirty dixies is in accordance with the company operating and quality assurance policies and procedures.

4.4Dixie stacking is consistent with the company policies regarding dixie stock rotation.

Element 5

Carry out dixie wash area housekeeping duties.

Performance criteria

5.1Incoming dixies are checked for serviceability, and the unserviceable dixies are removed from service in accordance with the company operating procedures.

5.2The dixie wash area is maintained in a clean and operational manner in accordance with the company safety, quality assurance, and operating policies and procedures.

5.3Dixie documentation and records are maintained in accordance with the company quality assurance policies and procedures.

Please note

Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.

Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.

Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.

Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
