The last date for entry into training programmes for the replaced qualification is 31 December 2015. The last date of assessment for the replaced qualification is December 2017.
People currently working towards achievement of Ref: 1653 may either complete the requirements for that qualification or transfer their results to the replacement.

Purpose
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the infrastructure industry with people who have attained sufficient knowledge, practical skills, attitude and experiencerequired for contract management. This qualification is suitable for people from the diverse range of roles within the infrastructure industry, including: Asphalt Surfacing; Chipseal Surfacing; Civil Works and Utilities; Civil Plant Management; Civil Works;Demolition; Pavement Surfacing; Roadmarking; Road Works; Rural Contracting; Water; and Wastewater, who have elected to progress into contract management roles within the infrastructure industry.
People awarded this qualification are able to: interpret contract documents for planning an infrastructure works project; carry out infrastructure works contract estimating, tendering, and related procedures; develop and implement a project plan to deliver on an infrastructure works contract, and demonstrate knowledge of infrastructure works contracts.
The National Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Contract Management) (Level 5) [Ref:1653] may build on the National Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 3) [Ref: 0743], and/or the National Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) [Ref: 0649], and may lead to the National Certificate in Infrastructure Works Supervision (Level 5) with optional strands in Civil Plant Management, Civil Works, Pavement Surfacing, Roadmarking, Road Works, and Rural Contracting [Ref: T436], and/or Infrastructure Asset Management qualifications.

Quality Management Systems
Providers and Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess by a recognised Quality Assurance Body before they can register credits from assessment against standards. Organisation with consent to assess and Industry Training Organisations assessing against standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Consent to assess requirements and the moderation system are outlined in the associated Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR) for each standard.
