19th ANNUAL GREEN VALLEY/FOOTHILL

WOMEN’S B and JV VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Welcome to the 19th Annual Green Valley/Foothill B and JV Women’s Volleyball Championships. Our goal is to have a competitive, fun and positive experience for each player. All coaches must attend a tournament meeting that will be held at 1:30 pm at each site on Friday, October 19, 2012. Tournament packets will be reviewed and any last minute changes will be made at this time. The meeting will be held in room 410 at Green Valley High School and at Foothill High School, the meeting will be held in the foyer of the main gym.

Friday, October 19, 2012 Pool play matches

Saturday, October 20, 2012 Continuation of Pool Play from Friday Night and Single Elimination Tournament

JV Championship and JV Consolation will take place at Green Valley High School

B Championship and B Consolation will take place at Foothill High School

Player Eligibility:

In order to facilitate a fair and competitive environment for the development of B and JV players, the following rule will be enforced. Any player that has played in a varsity league match is INELIGIBLE to participate. If a player who has been on a varsity roster plays in the tournament and this information is confirmed, your team will be removed from the tournament. Thanks in advance for adhering to this tournament ruleJ If you have a specific situation, please let me know.

Concessions, Food and Drink:

Concessions will be available at both sites on Friday and on Saturday. Coaches are to remind parents, players and spectators that lawn chairs, coolers and team bags will be left outside of the gym. NO FOOD, ONLY WATER WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE GYM. If a team chooses not to adhere to these rules, their next match will result in a forfeit. Please note, Green Valley nor Foothill High School is responsible for any lost or stolen items. Encourage athletes to leave all valuables at home.

Awards:

A team award and individual medals will be presented to first place in both the B and JV Championship Division. A team award only, will be presented to second place in both the B and JV Championship division. A team award only, will be presented to both the first and second place teams in the B and JV Consolation Division.

Admission:

Adults will be $6.00 and Students will be $4.00. Children under 8 years old are free. Valid CCSD Employee ID and NIAA Passes are accepted with photo ID. Please be advised that Family Passes will not be accepted.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2012 POOL PLAY

Everyone will play each team in their pool two out of three games. The first two games will be 25 point rally scoring with a cap of 27 points. The third game will be rally scoring to 15, no cap. High School Federation Rules Apply.

Everyone will be expected to help with the refereeing by providing 2 linesmen, 1 scorekeeper, 1 Libero tracker and one person to operate the visible scoreboard. The times listed below are approximate. Matches will start earlier than the shown times if the prior match finishes early. BE READY TO PLAY.

The warm up for each team’s first match will be 8 minutes; each team will receive 4 minutes on the net. After your first match on either day the warm up will be 3 minutes per team. There will be no shared hitting. Pools, playing order, refereeing assignments, and times are as follows:

Tiebreaker procedure For Pool Play

Two way tie: The winner of the head-to-head competition is the higher seed.

Three way tie: (1) record of games won

**If this results in one team being eliminated from the tie and the other two teams remain tied then the head to head results from the two tied teams will determine place finish.

(2) record of games lost

*If this results in one team being eliminated from the tie and the other two teams remain tied then the head to head results from the two tied teams will determine place finish.

(3) Overall number of points scored by tied teams against each other in pool play

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2012 SINGLE ELIMINATION BRACKET TOURNAMENT

CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET

The first and second place teams in each B and JV pool will qualify for the Single Elimination Championship Tournament. The JV Championship will be held at Green Valley High School. The B Team Championship will be held at Foothill High School.

The first two games will be rally scoring to 25 with a 27 point cap. The third game will be rally scoring to 15 with no point cap. Warm up will follow the same format as Pool Play.

CONSOLATION BRACKET

The third, fourth and fifth place teams in each B and JV pool will qualify for the Single Elimination Consolation Tournament. The JV Consolation will be held at Green Valley High School. The B Team Consolation will be held at Foothill High School.

The first two games will be rally scoring to 25 with a 27 point cap. The third game will be rally scoring to 15 with no point cap. Warm up will follow the same format as Pool Play.

Please be advised that 16 warm-up balls per court (8 for each team) will be provided at each site. These balls are court balls and are not to be taken outside for any type of warm up.
