130 artists display one-of-a-kind fine craftsat the

WheatonArts festival of fine craft

MILLVILLE, NJ –The Festival of Fine Craft at WheatonArts is a juried show with a 16 year reputation for excellence. The festival is bringing together over 130 artists from around the country for two days of exhibiting and selling their works,including one-of-a-kind jewelry, clothing and accessories, home décor pieces, painting, photography, as well as functional and sculptural works in ceramics, glass, metal, wood and mixed media.

Event Coordinator, Doris Abeling, explains, “This is strictly a juried show and categories are limited in each craft. This makes the quality and integrity of the festival consistently high.”

“This festival began as a small local show, but now that it’s well established, it’s becomeone of the mostpopular destination events in the region,” said Janet Peterson, WheatonArts Marketing and Public Relations Director.

Visitors will be able to interact with artists through demonstrations and booth chats. Among the artist demonstrations:

■ Doug Starry,Starry's Woodshop(chair caning), Gettysburg, PA

■ Alex Alessi and Carmel Verrastro, Alessi & Verrastro Painted Silk (painting on silk),

Leeds Point, NJ

■ Jim Sharpless (mold making), Millville,NJ

■ Amy Blevins, Bead and Glass Boutique (Bead Weaving), Pitman, NJ

■ Dr. Sam Moyer, Ph.D, “Jersey Jerry Broomsquire,” Mt. Laurel, NJ

■ WheatonArts Volunteer Glassblowers

■The Third Star Fibre Artists Guild from Salem, NJ

Flying Fish Brewery Company in Somerdale, NJ, and Auburn Road Vineyard and Winery in Pilesgrove, NJ, will host the Beer and Wine Garden.

Three hands-on opportunities (additional fees apply) will be offered:Make Your Own Basketwith Mary May;Paint Your Own Silk Scarfwith Ebru Rich Silk Designs; and Aluminum Casting Scratch Mold Workshop with Steve Morse of Sea Robin Studio.

Family hands-on activities take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. They are: Scarecrow Construction; Watercolor Resist Painting; Day of the Dead Masks; Beaded Spiders; and Sidewalk Chalk.

Two special demonstrations will take place in the Education/Folklife Center on Saturday only from

2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Marquetry: The Art of Painting in Wood with internationally renowned marquetarian, Gregg Perry, and Decorative Woodcarving with Tania Angelova.

PackageGoods Orchestra, a music group from Galloway Township, NJ, will play from 11 a.m. to

4 p.m. both days.

In addition, visitors can sample and purchase a wide choice of award-winning premium and ultra-premium wines fromBalić Winery in Mays Landing, NJ. East End Foodies from Suffern, NY,will offer gourmet balsamic vinegars and specialty flavored olive oils.

A wide array of hundreds of glass pumpkins in all shapes, colors and sizesare available for purchasein the “Glass Pumpkin Patch” located across from the Glass Studio

During the Festival visitors have the opportunity to visit the Museum of American Glass, Glass, Pottery, Paper and Flameworking Studios and Museum Stores. The Glass Studio artists will conduct special demonstrations at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. both days.

A variety of food vendors line the grounds. They include kettle corn, Italian specialties, barbeque, seafood, grilled items, salads, and gourmet desserts. The Sweets Suite Café, on site at WheatonArts, offers made-to-order sandwiches, salads, beverages and baked goods.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, rain or shine. The Festival is included in the price of admission

to WheatonArts. $10.00 Adults, $9.00 Senior Adults and $7.00 Students. Children five and under are free.

Festival Special: Ticket good for both days with “Tomorrow Pass” which is available upon request. Free parking.
