2.02MATERIALS

A.General: The shade frame shall consist of a housing, side channels, sill channel and bottom rail accurately formed of heavy gauge sheet steel. All edges contacting the shade cloth shall be fully hemmed. The shade, a fire-resistant vinyl coated fiberglass fabric, shall be mounted on a metal roller and be provided with stiffening braces.

B.Housing: The housing shall be 2-1/2 inches to 3-1/2 inches (64-89mm) square, depending on the overall size of the shade. Light locks, welded to both ends of the housing, shall form an adjustable light seal with the guides.

C.Side Channels: The side channels shall be 3 inches to 5 inches(76-127mm) deep, depending on the width of the shade, and have only sufficient opening for the free travel of the shade. The top of the side channels shall be screwed to the light locks and the lower ends shall be fitted into the sill channel to form positive and rigid lightproof junctions between all shade frame parts.

D.Sill Channel: The sill channel, only 1 inch(25.4mm) high, shall extend across the bottom of the entire opening width and shall engage the bottom rail.

E.Bottom Rail: The bottom rail shall completely encase the bottom edge of the shade cloth. Spring locks shall be attached to both ends of the rail to automatically engage under the lock lugs when the shade is lowered. A draw cord shall be attached to the center of the rail.

F.Cloth: The lightproof shade cloth shall consist of a fiberglass fabric coated on one side with flame-resistant, self-extinguishing black vinyl and on the other side with flame-resistant light grey to a minimum finished weight of 10 ounces per square yard. The cloth shall be opaque, durable, crack and fade proof and remain soft and pliable under varying whether conditions.

G.Roller: The all metal roller with self-lubricating bearings shall be no less than 1-1/2 inches(38mm) in diameter and encase an operating spring, which shall be coiled from music wire to proper gauge, temper and length to easily raise and lower the shade.

H.Stiffening Braces: Solid oval steel stiffening braces shall be riveted through the cloth not over 30 inches(762mm) apart to insure retention of the cloth in the side channels.

I.Finish: Exposed metal surfaces as the inside of the housing, side channels and sill channel shall be factory finished in custom color as selected by Architect.

I.Finish: Exposed metal surfaces and the inside of the housing, side channels, and sill channel shall be finished in black.
