1This unit standard is intended for, but is not limited to, workplace assessment. The range statements relate to enterprise specific equipment, procedures, and processes.

4Definitions
Company procedures means the documented methods for performing work activities and include health and safety, environmental, and quality management requirements. They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements.
Domestic meters in this unit standard means meters up to and including 25 cubic metres per hour.
GMS means gas measurement system.
Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Locate and identify procedures, documentation, and equipment for changing and installing domestic gas meters and regulators.
Evidence requirements
1.1Company procedures for changing and installing domestic meters and regulators are located and interpreted in relation to specified job requirements.
1.2Job instructions are confirmed in accordance with company procedures.
Rangeinstructions include – site location, utility plans and/or mark-outs, consents, easements, meter install-change docket, customer liaison.
1.3Potential environmental and safety hazards are identified in accordance with company procedures.
1.4Domestic meter and regulator equipment, components, and materials are identified and described in terms of type and function.
Rangeequipment – hand tools, GMS kit, fittings;
function – passing unaccounted for gas (also known as pug), working pressure test, flow, lockup.
1.5Equipment is described in terms of potential hazards of incorrect application and operation and the steps to avoid them are described in accordance with company procedures.
1.6Resource requirements are identified and sourced in accordance with company procedures.

Outcome 2
Change and install domestic gas meters and regulators.
Evidence requirements
2.1Safety hazards are identified, and isolated, removed, or minimised in accordance with company procedures.
Rangemay include – personal protective equipment, safe access and egress, gas escape, fire, explosion, asphyxiation, environmental protection, continuity bonds.
2.2Equipment and materials for changing domestic gas meters and regulators are prepared, handled and positioned in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer’s instructions.
2.3Meter, regulator, and appliances are isolated and shutdown in accordance with manufacturer's and company procedures.
2.4System specifications are applied to the equipment being installed in accordance with company procedures.

2.5Domestic meters and regulators are installed and changed in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer’s instructions.
Rangemay include – GMS kit, seals, tags.
Outcome 3
Complete reporting and documentation.
Evidence requirements
3.1Information is communicated to other parties, both internal and external, in accordance with company procedures.
Rangemay include but is not limited to – special conditions, completion notice, additional work.
3.2Meter install-change dockets are completed and processed in accordance with company procedures.
