11th Annual Alternate Giving FairProvides

Opportunity for Holiday Shopping that Makes a Difference

Idaho Falls, Idaho – Local charities are coming together for the 11th Annual Holiday Alternate Giving Fair. The event will be held November 12 and 13, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Eastern Idaho Technical College Cafeteria (1600 S 25th E, Idaho Falls, ID 83404).

This year marks the fair’s 11th anniversary, with 30 nonprofit organizations participating.

According to event organizer Kaaren Parsons, “This event brings together a broad cross-section of local non-profit organizations who make a tremendous difference in our community every day. This year’s group of charities highlights the diverse services being provided to meet the needs of our community. It is an incredible group of organizations!”

The Giving Fair provides an opportunity to shop with local charities for holiday “gifts” by making donations to favorite charities in the name of family members, friends, employees, and others. For each donation, shoppers receive an attractive holiday gift card noting the donation and the recipient.

This year’s non-profits include organizations focused on the arts, service to those in need, youth and education programs, programs for the elderly, and those dedicated to animals. This year’s participating organizations include Angel Flight West, Idaho, The Center for Hope, Club Inc., Community Food Basket, Community Outreach Center, District 91 Education Foundation,Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership, Eastern Idaho Technical College Foundation, Emergency Housing Exchange, Friends in Service Here (FISH), Good Samaritan Society Idaho Falls Village, Habitat for Humanity, Hospice of Eastern Idaho, Humane Society of the Upper Valley, Idaho Art Lab, Idaho Falls Humanitarian Center, Idaho Falls Rescue Mission, Idaho Falls YMCA, Idaho Meth Project, Mayor’s Scholarship Fund, NAMI Upper Valley, Salvation Army, Senior Citizens Community Center, Shepherd’s Inn, Snake River Animal Shelter, Snake River Montessori School, Snake River Valley Chapter of the National Federation for the Blind, the Soup Kitchen, St.Vincent de Paul Christian Ministries, and SPAN of Eastern Idaho.

One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the fair stay in the local area. Over the past 10 years, the fair has raised almost $225,000 for local charities.

The Community Outreach Center hosts the alternate giving fair each November to highlight local charities and all the great outreach efforts in this community. The Outreach Center is a local 501c3 charitable organization dedicated to assisting those in need in our community. The COC provides space for several social service agencies, which allows them to dedicate their funds entirely to helping those in need.
