INTERNSHIP BACKGROUND: Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation offers one, in-house internship each summer for an undergraduate or graduate student who desires experience related to philanthropy, the nonprofit sector, public policy, and/or community service in North Carolina. Interns may have the opportunity to assist staff in researching projects related to the long-term goals of the Foundation as well as projects of personal interest. Interns also shadow staff members, attend conferences and meetings, and participate in the overall activities of the Foundation. This internship provides a unique opportunity for a student to explore his/her interests with the goal of informing future career pathways.
North Carolina natives, residents, and/or students attending accredited colleges or universities in the state are eligible to apply. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in philanthropy, the nonprofit sector, public policy, and/or community service. Applicants must also demonstrate strong communication skills, the desire to take on personal responsibility, and the willingness to support Foundation staff through intensive research projects.

INTERNSHIP APPLICATION
TO THE APPLICANT: The information requested herein willassist the Foundation staff in selectingan intern for the summer of 2015. The duration of the internship is generally six to ten consecutive weeks, with a fairly flexible starting date. This internship providesa summer stipend of $275 a week, plus a housing stipend if the intern does not live within commuting distance of Winston-Salem.
The Foundation must receive applications no later than JANUARY 5, 2015 and accepts applications BY EMAIL ONLY. Applications can be downloaded from the Foundation’s website at To access the application, go to the “About” tab and then click on the “ZSR Summer Internship” tab.
Applicants must complete the entire application. Answers to all questions should not exceed the maximum lines allotted and should be typed in Times New Roman 12 point font with one inch margins. In addition to the application, please include a copy of your résumé.

After the deadline, an initial review of the applications will be completed. After this review, a pool of finalists will be chosen and interviewed by Foundation staff. Applicants not chosen as finalists will be notified by mail. Finalist interviews will take place in late January or early February. Final decisions will be made shortly thereafter.
