SUBJECT: 2016 BURLESON COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS RECOGNITION DAY

SUNDAY, APRIL 24, 2016 - 2:00 P.M.

~ INVITATION TO NOMINATE OUTSTANDING SENIOR CITIZENS~

The 39th Annual Burleson County Senior Citizen's Recognition Day will be Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Caldwell Civic Center.

This event, hosted by the Burleson County Forever Young Committee and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Burleson County, includes a guest speaker, a formal recognition of all nominees, and a reception for nominees and guests. Traditionally, local businesses of Burleson County have generously sponsored this event.

The purpose of the Senior Citizen's Recognition Day is to honor the senior citizens of Burleson County and to name one man and one woman as 2016 Outstanding Senior of Burleson County. All nominees will be honored with certificates, and the Outstanding Senior Citizens will each receive a special award honoring their achievements. The Forever Young Committee wishes to recognize the diverse contributions senior citizens make to the community, therefore a variety of contributions are considered important. For example, volunteer service is just as valuable as business achievement and vice versa. We want to honor all aspects of quality living in later adult life.

Any organization, club, church or individual is encouraged to nominate any man and/or woman they feel merits this recognition (married couples should be nominated individually). Individuals may be nominated more than once. However, the honor of the “Outstanding Senior” will only be bestowed once. Please share this information with anyone you think might be interested in nominating a worthy individual. For purposes of this event, “senior” citizen is defined as individuals 60 years and older. Enclosed are nomination forms. Information in the nomination should focus on significant achievements throughout the lifetime of the nominee. Each nominator is asked to notify their nominee and ensure attendance at the Senior Citizen's Recognition Day Reception. All nominators and guests are also encouraged to come to the event to show support for the nominees.

Completed nomination forms should be submitted to the Burleson County Extension Office by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. Please address them to Tina Roehling, CEA-FCS, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, 100 West Buck Street, Suite #105, Caldwell, Texas 77836. For more information or questions, contact the Burleson County Extension Office at 979-567-2308.

Sincerely,

Tina Roehling
