Dear Parents,
We are excited to announce our annual reading program called “Be a Smart Cookie, Read!” at the La Vergne Lake Media Center. Attached you will find a reading log. The Media Specialist has explained the reading log to the students. Your child is to read books for points. Here is a list of the point goals and prizes:
10 points: pencil and notepad
20 points: bookmark and bracelet
40 points: luau lei
60 points: free book OR restaurant coupon
80 points: cookies with the Media Specialist in May
100 points: “Rock Star Reader” t-shirt
More than 100 points: Surprise Special Prize
When your child has reached a goal, he/she will be given a prize from the library! The points for each book are located on the inside front cover. If no points are listed, please still write down how many pages are in the book, and we will determine how many points should be earned for that book by comparing it to a similar book. Also, please sign and date the reading log showing that you have checked your child’s reading log and points earned. If a book is labeled with a half point or above (.5-1.0), please help your child to include the decimal point on the reading log. We are looking forward to your child’s participation and hope your child enjoys the program. Thank you for all your support in reading with your children! Happy Reading!
Respectfully,
Christi Thomas
