Homework week of April 24, 2017
The students participated in various Mexican activities on Friday, April 21st. They had a wonderful time! Please look at the photos that I have uploaded on my teacher page.
1. Your child is bringing French books to read at home each week.
Your child also needs to retell the story in French. Please fill in the passport sheet by including the title of the books your child has read and sign or initial on the line. The students are now working for an ice cream party. The two grade 3 FI classes together need to accumulate 40 stickers in order to partake in an ice cream party. (One filled passport sheet equals a big sticker.)
2. Practice multiplication tables 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 at home this week.
3. As we are learning about our province, please discuss with your child the various cities/villages that you have visited as a family in New Brunswick. Where and what you have seen and how they are different than Fredericton. As one of our class assignments, the students will be responsible for creating a poster board pertaining to a city/town/village in NB. If your family has visited an area and you have pictures, please send them in so your child can use these photos on the poster. The pictures are due no later than Monday, April 24th.

- Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser has begun, please send in your donations by April 27th. Help us reach our goal.
- Vesey Bulb Spring School Fundraiser was sent home, please return envelope with your order no later than April 21st. Thank you for your support.
- Friday, April 28th (NO SCHOOL as it is Professional Learning Day for teachers).
- May 4th, grade 3 FI are walking to the Legislative Assembly. We will be leaving at 8:15 am. Please return the signed permission slip to school.
This week in language arts, we will our social studies unit about: Notre place. The students are learning new sentences and vocabulary pertaining to our city and province as well as spring. Nomme ta ville/province. Où se situe ta province? Qu’est-ce que tu peux voir ou faire à Fredericton/ au NB? Nomme les provinces de l’Atlantique/ des Maritimes. Qu’est-ce que tu peux visiter à Fredericton ou au Nouveau-Brunswick? Quelle est la fleur du Nouveau-Brunswick? La violette cucculée est la fleur du Nouveau-Brunswick. Quelle est la végétation au Nouveau-Brunswick? Il y des arbres, des pommes de terre, des pommes, de la fougère et des bleuets au Nouveau-Brunswick.The students are learning new sentences structures and vocabulary pertaining to this theme. Your child should be able to respond to basic routine questions and questions about the themes learned thus far. He /she needs to be able to recognize sounds and sight words. The students need to put into practice reading strategies that we have been working on. The students should be able to write independently personal responses to a book they have read and at least 5-10 simple sentences related to our themes. They need to use convention (proper use of punctuation and uppercase letters as well as write sight words correctly).
Math:
Your child continues to learn to add and subtract using various strategies. We will continue to work on our unit on multiplication up to 5x5.
For example: 3 groups of 4’s =3X4 as well as 4+4+4. An array for 3x4 is 3 rows of 4:
They will work on their division skills. We will also learn about perimeter.
In English class, we will be working on persuasive writing. The students will be writing a persuasive piece about protecting the planet Earth.
Social Studies: Locate their province in the Atlantic region, Canada, North America, and the world.
