There will be a vocabulary, future, and conditional assessment on Wednesday. / When you arrived, you compared your homework answers to your neighbors' and asked me questions about discrepancies. In groups of two, you described your new vocabulary words in a way that your partner could easily guess them. It was sort of like tabú. With the other people at your table (and with a little nudge from me), you began to remember how to form regular and irregular future and conditional tense verbs by completing a graphic organizer.
Due tomorrow: complete the front of the graphic organizer (focus on irregular verbs).

There will be a vocabulary, future, and conditional assessment on Wednesday. / I checked that you completed your homework and then made sure you had all grouped the irregular conditional and future tense stems correctly. To practice conjugating them, you completed this irregular future crucigrama. We practiced differentiating between future and conditional tense, but it seemed really easy for you guys. Instead, you read a news article about the desaster of el prestige with vocabulary words in context. You wrote synonyms for all of these words using the article as a guide to help you know you were choosing appropriate words.
Due Monday: complete vocabulary writing assignment (both sides).

Study for tomorrow’s vocabulary, future, and conditional quiz. / I checked to see who had done last night's homework and collected the homework from yesterday from those of you that had forgotten to do it. I gave you the quiz review for tomorrow's quiz. You did the front part (with conjugations and irregulars of conditional and future) at your tables, and you wrote synonyms (back side of the paper) for your vocabulary words that you need to focus your studying on. We also wrote a few sample conditional sentences together because you'll have to do that on the quiz tomorrow.

It took most of the class period, but you seemed to think it wasn't too bad. After you turned in your quizzes, I passed back the homework that you turned in on Monday and gave you tonight's homework: Los efectos del derrame del prestige.
Due tomorrow: read the article I gave you and summarize it in your own words. Be sure to use the seven new words that appear in the article (and on that article's portion of the vocabulary list).

There is no homework due tomorrow. / I was upset because over half of you didn't do your homework. We talked about some of the new vocabulary words that appeared in the article - those of you that did the homework had a really good grasp of how to use those new words. Those of you that didn't do the homework should do it tonight. Since we just re-looked at the conditional form of verbs, we started looking at the past subjunctive forms so that you can use the two together in if-statements. You wrote a few sentences on the board to remind each other of the two primary different situations where the past subjunctive is used. Then, you completed the imperfecto del subjuntivo conjugation chart by comparing the past subjunctive to the preterite forms.
There is no homework due tomorrow.

SWBATdifferentiate between the imperfect del subjuntivo and past perfect subjuntivo/ condicional and condicional perfecto by (1) matching clauses together and (2) finishing if-then statements in the appropriate tense (little slips of paper).
Due tomorrow: complete a summary for the article we read today Galicia recuerda el desastre. / Please review the updated list of objectives and due dates for the current unit. Today we continued writing, reading, and discussing if-then statements in various tenses. I gave you partial sentences, and you completed them using either the conditional or imperfect subjunctive. This helped you compare the tenses to each other and figure out the order they should appear in sentences. Then, you each got a new partial sentence. You had to find the person in the class whose partial sentence completed yours both grammatically and in terms of content. This helped you notice and define the differences between the following: imperfecto del subjuntivo/pasado perfecto del subjuntivo and condicional/condicional perfecto.
Due tomorrow: read the article and write synonyms for the vocabulary words based on how they're used in context.

We talked about the new vocabulary and shared definitions and synonyms for them. You will have trouble on the Thursday's quiz if you didn't do the homework. I gave you this past subjunctive note sheet, and we looked at part B together. You read it out loud while we underlined key terms to help you focus your reading. You then described potential environmental problems in the past, present, and future using pluperfecto del subjuntivo, imperfect del subjuntivo, condicional perfecto, y condicional.
