OPEN FIRES AND FIREWORKS

Val-des-Monts, June 10, 2016 - The summer season has finally arrived and with the aim to create awareness for residents of the potential dangers of forest fires, the Fire Department of Val-des-Monts reminds you that you must obtain a burning permit for any open fire that exceeds a height and a diameter of 1 meter.

You also must obtain at all times a permit from the Municipality, beforehand, for family-type fireworks (store-bought).
The ban on open fires and fireworks applies when the indicator of the fire danger is at «EXTREME ». In this case, only installations with a spark arrester (screen)are allowed.

Two signs inform the population of the index of the fire danger, which are located at the boundaries of the Municipality, on Highway 366 in the Perkins sector and on Highway 307 in Saint-Pierre de Wakefield sector.

Even with a permit, it is your responsibilityto inquire about the fire danger, since the flammability ratings change frequently. Thus, when the fire hazard index is at « EXTREME », issued permits are suspended for the duration of the ban on open fires and fireworks. We invite you to visit the following websites, namely:

1. Danger Index - In Val-des-Monts, EXTREME = FIRE BAN
